The accounts of the trumpets sounding (chaps. 8, 9) and the bowls of

wrath chaps. 15, 16) being poured out upon the ungodly world have

underlying similarities, but there are marked differences as well. The

trumpets affect only third of societyonly third of society; but the bowls of wrath indicate

completeness or totalitycompleteness or totality of judgment. Trumpets warn the earth-dwellers,while at the same time they draw Gods people into a holy nearness to

Himself.

On the other hand, bowls ofbowls of

wrath bring final judgmentwrath bring final judgment. If

proclaiming the good news ofredemption does not cause

men to fear before God, and ifand if

partial judgments do not turnpartial judgments do not turn

themthem from humanism and

materialism to repentance,

then such an unregeneratedsociety forfeits its right to
