Introduction

This book is part of the Bio-Universal Energy Series. Although ideally you use this book in conjunctionwith the other books in the series, the information that is contained within its pages can also stand aloneby its own merit. You do not have to read the entire series to benefit from the lessons presented in thebooks.

Throughout this book, you will hear frequent mention of the term “Bio-Universal energy.” This is aphrase we coined in our book Energy Magic to identify the merged process of “bio” energy (meaningyour own personal energy and will that is inherent to YOU) and “universal” energy (meaning the energyof God, The Goddess, The Creator, The Universe – whatever you personally consider to be holy andsacred.

We believe that the Almighty takes on any number forms and names to suit the comfort of the personaaddressing this force. Our position is that the word, “God,” engenders visions of a being that is all-powerful and can take on the appearance of any gender as well. By this definition, the term “Goddess”is just as valid as the word “God.” Throughout this text, you will see many references to “God” and wewish to affirm that there is no gender assignment intended to this title. When you read “God,” know thatwe are referring to the benevolent, all-knowing, omnipotent power that exists and that the worldgenerally accepts as Deity. The words “Goddess,” “The Universe,” “The Divine,” “Creator,” etc, couldjust as easily be substituted and sometimes will be.

We also use the word “magic” frequently throughout this book and it does not refer to the magicinvolved with stage illusion. The only similarity is that something that was previously *there* is now*gone* or something that was not here before is now *here.* Within the context of this book, “magic”simply refers to the manifestation of positive change, whether by addition or removal, through theknowledge and the use of the movement of Bio-Universal energy.

One of the most fundamental aspects of any spiritual path is the premise that if we connect with ourchosen deity and ask for help, assistance will be given by that process. The use of Bio-Universal energywork simply explores that process to a greater degree and gives one a deeper understanding of thenature of spiritual connection and utilizes the basic principles of psychics which apply that which weknow about mundane physical energy to the use of spiritual energy

For instance, we now know through the consistent and logical use of the scientific method that it isirrefutable that energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be converted into something else. It isimportant to understand that energy is not “conjured” or called into existence by some arcane method ofwizardry. It must be “drawn” or raised from some source within or without the body, mind, or soul. This tells us that in order to use our Bio-Universal energy effectively we must harness it and cause it tobecome what we will it to be. It wants to change into something observable. The energy wants tobecome “generative and interesting.” The trick comes in knowing how to do so in a way that is positiveand responsible.

Beginning with our first book, Energy Magic, we initiated a study of how to combine our own personalenergy with that of The Divine to create positive life change. Too often, we are advised to pray for whatwe want, but we are not told how to pray. In the Bible, Jesus gives us specific instructions for how to doso, but it is limited to the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer. There is no direction on what we should feelwhen we pray or how we should direct our internal energy and focus.

In nature-based religious practices, we are often told to do this particular spell work or read this part of

Page 7: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

a ritual, but here again we are not told how we should feel or what connections we should make. In theBio-Universal Energy Series, we explore many ways to join your energy with Universal energy and todirect it toward a specific goal that needs attention in your life.

For a much more detailed examination of the foundations, concepts and methods of the use of Bio-Universal energy, we have written other books dedicated to that subject. The book The Properties ofMagical Energy studies what speeds up and slows down the movement of Bio-Universal energy. InReuniting the Two Selves, we explore at length what exactly Bio-Universal energy is, where it comesfrom, and how the energy centers in our bodies move it through us, as well as how blockages of ourenergy flow can affect us. The Art of Ritual Crafting teaches the reader how to construct a fullyfunctional, sacred, and effective ritual for positive manifestation. Days and Times of Power identifiesparticular days, times, and conditions that will amplify different types of energy. Lastly, Magical Ethicsand Protection tell you how to use the natural energies around you in a way that is safe and ethicalwithout a threat of karmic blow-back, as well as how to protect yourself from different types of magicalenergy.

In Reuniting the Two Selves, we will explore at length what exactly bio-universal energy is, where itcomes from, and how the energy centers in our bodies move it through us, as well as how blockages ofour energy flow can affect us.

Chapter 1 – Defining the Two Selves

Each of us has two selves that govern our day-to-day lives. Between the two of them, they create ourpersonality. They house our fears, our wisdom, our truths, our motivations, and our total potential forsuccess and failure. One is the Conscious Self, which is our perceived thought processes, emotions, andour awareness. The other is our Higher Self, which is our subconscious mind and innermost functions.Higher Self is able to tap into knowledge and insight that is not normally available to Conscious Self.Higher Self is a calm, relaxed part of your being that is able to research, learn, and absorb informationthat Conscious Self is too busy and distracted to handle.

Conscious Self is very active and is more involved with “doing” and “reacting” while Higher Self ismore involved with “knowing” and “assimilating.” The Conscious Self reacts to situations, whereas theHigher Self integrates them, then accepts them as a part of the intricate weave of your life path andisolates specific learning opportunities for the Conscious Self to acknowledge and absorb. Imagine thatHigher Self processes an experience and then writes up a summary report with certain sectionshighlighted for emphasis and then puts it in the inbox of Conscious Self which is ready to absorb thenew information.

For most people, the inbox gets pretty full because Conscious Self is so busy “putting out fires” andsolving problems during our hectic, mundane life that it does not even go into the office, much less lookat the inbox. (I hope you followed that prolonged metaphor).

Higher Self processes information on a more esoteric, “big picture” level than does Conscious Self.Conscious Self often becomes confused by the weather of emotions and the flotsam and jetsam ofexternal stimulation that accompanies our everyday life. Conscious Self has trouble figuring out what isimportant and what is incidental and irrelevant.

Concepts such as “I can’t…,” “But what if…,” and “I want…” do not influence the Higher Self. With theexternal and internal distraction of daily life rendered irrelevant, Higher Self is able to view a situationfrom a very simple and realistic manner. It assimilates any experience we have through a panoramicunderstanding our past and predicts our future based on an intricate dance of intuition and predictivesummations from past behaviors and experiences. Higher Self can analyze an experience and reasonablypredict the impact it will have on ourselves and those around us, then formulate a greatest and bestoutcome. When Higher Self and Conscious Self are communicating well, our behavior and motivationwill instinctively move us toward that best possible outcome. There was a time in human history whenwe did not have to work so hard to be in contact with our Higher Self. The purpose of this book is toexplore ways to reconnect those two selves and use them in alliance to achieve our own best possibleoutcomes.

Higher Self is sort of like a Global Positioning System that speaks very quietly to you: “Turn right atyour next stop to reach your destination.” If we fail to pay attention and do not turn right, it says, “Enterthe left lane and make a U turn at the next light, then turn left at light after that” or “Turn right at the nextlight, then right at the first turn after that.” Our Higher Self constantly adjusts its wisdom and guidancebased on experiences we have and choices we make. Higher Self, because of our own free will choicesand the difficulty in hearing what Higher Self is saying, it is in a near constant state of course correctingour lives. In that particular respect, we likely keep our Higher Selves busier now at this point in humandevelopment, even in a more disconnected status, than our collective Higher Selves have ever beenbefore.

Page 11: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

Higher Self is able to see the true nature of an event or set of circumstances and dispassionately evaluatethe event’s place and purpose on your life path. To Higher Self, everything that happens has a purposefor our own greater good. Mind you, not everything that happens has a particularly important or has asignificant purpose, but there is a purpose. Higher Self is constantly processing experiences andcalculating how they fit into the matrix of our life’s plan.

Although it was likely once different for humankind, at present for the average person, the ConsciousSelf is only aware of information that is provided by Higher Self on an occasional basis, such as whenwe have an epiphany or are stunned by flashes of insight or “hunches.” Like any organ or body part thatis unused for a period of developmental time, it becomes weak and atrophied. The Higher Self and theroutes to it also become increasingly dormant as our society moves away from a spiritual based culturein favor of a mundane, science based culture. “Dormant,” however, does not equal “dead.” Ourpersonal energy centers and the pathways that join them are eager to light up and come back online witheven the slightest encouragement. Our goal with Bio-Universal energy work is to reacquaint our twoestranged selves with one another and teach them to work cooperatively to create a balanced andinsightful life that returns to the trajectory of our own greatest and best outcome.

Chapter 2 - Where is the Higher Self?

The human brain is measurable both in mass and in the electrical impulses that it generates to keep usalive and cognitive. Because it is a tangible organ that can be can be located and measured, it is easier tostudy than our Higher Self functions. A vast network of sensory, emotional, and neural impulses formsour Conscious Self. Although we have made great strides in our understanding of how the brainfunctions, what we actually know represents the tip of the iceberg. It is leagues beyond what we knew ahundred years ago and yet very basic concepts such as “Why do we dream?” elude us. We still have somuch to learn about the processes that work together to create our behaviors and more specifically, tocreate our conscious thoughts. In a world filled with technology and knowledge that far surpasses whatanyone could have imagined even ten years ago, there are still more questions than answers in the fieldof neurology. We have yet to agree on even a definition of what “consciousness” is, let alone possessany real understanding of how it works.

As minimal as our knowledge is about Conscious Self, it vastly overshadows the tiny modicum ofinformation we have about Higher Self, which is still primarily speculation based on personalexperience. In either instance, we are still routinely shocked at the vehement denial that “professionals”will express when they encounter a theory that supports or even suggests any sort of esoteric or spiritualorigin. The attitude is typically, “No, it can’t be that. I don’t know what it is, but it is not that.” Theresistance to any consideration of a non-biological factor in either Conscious Self or Higher Selffunction is tremendous, even now that many influences once thought to be non-biological have aperfectly reasonable scientific explanation.

For thousands of years, humankind has attempted to prove the existence of a soul or spirit inside thebody and specifically to find where in our bodies it is located. The medical profession has sought toexplain why it is that a person’s physical weight is less immediately following death than it was minutesbefore death. Dr. Duncan McDougall of Haverill, Massachusetts conducted extensive experimentsweighing bodies before, during, and immediately after death. The evidence he collected convinced himthat a soul weighs approximately 21 grams. The New York Times and American Medicine (a medicaljournal) both published his work and other medical professionals immediately went on the attack. Thedebate seemed to focus on details of his methodology for collecting information rather than on thevalidity of his conclusions and as such, never addressed the actual loss of weight, now accepted as factand still without explanation. Once again, the prevailing attitude towards this phenomenon fell to “Idon’t know what it is, but it is not that.”

There are many theories about where our soul lives. For instance, the 19th century Christian mystic, MaxHeindel theorized that the human pituitary and pineal gland were much more active in the past and“when man was in touch with the inner worlds, these organs were his means of ingress thereto.” Othertheorists studied his ideas and agreed that these essential glands are very dormant versions of how theyoperated in our ancestors. Some say there is a reason why our heart is universally known metaphoricallyas the center of our emotional and spiritual activity and that like the brain, it emits electrical impulsesthat regulate vital functions in our bodies specifically regarding the emotions and how memories arestored, either as positive or negative experiences.

Where does Higher Self live? Unfortunately, the limited results produced by literally thousands of yearsof study of the soul, often from enlightened masters, do not leave us much to go on. Our circulatorysystem, consisting of our heart and our venous and arterial structures, which feeds our various internalorgans, has been studied extensively and found to be a biological masterpiece. If we use that frame-up

Page 15: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

to consider our energy system, consisting of the intricate circuitry of our chakras, our meridians, andour lymphatic process, we can see what is nearly a mirror image. The chakras pump different types ofenergy through our bodies, determined by which of the seven chakras is doing the work. The meridians, much like the veins and arteries, carry the energy throughout the entire body. The lymphatic systemcleanses the energy and releases impure energy, much as our respiratory systems and excretory systemseliminate impurities from our circulatory system.

We eat a particular way, exercise a particular way, and reduce toxic behaviors such as smoking, over-indulgence in transfats and sugars, to keep our physical bodies healthy and reduce the stress on thosevital systems. If we consider that the energy system works just as hard and is just as important at theother systems in our body, should we not work to support its good health as well? Could it be that thisenergy system, as the last frontier of biological science, constitutes a body energy system within ourphysical bodies wherein lies our Higher Self, pulsing and working every bit as hard as our moretangible, observable and therefore, measurable body organs and systems? We believe it is more likelythan not and we are confident that future scientific studies will support the idea that the neurological andbiological factors we currently acknowledge actually work with a less definable, at least by our currenttechnological development, system that moves energy through our bodies. Once this is scientificallysupported, we will have the perfect trinity of mind, body, and spirit defined.

Chapter 3 – Programmed For Joy

As we delve into a study of the energy centers and pathways that generate our own, personal energyflow, an important subject to address is why we would do this in the first place. Why do we care aboutthe way energy moves through our physical bodies to create a spiritual self?

The reason is to support our overall intention in Bio-Universal energy work to use that energy tomanifest a joyful and sacred life. One of the catch phrases from our workshops promoting the use ofBio-Universal energy work is “Live the ordinary life in an extraordinary way.” People who work withBio-Universal energy on an ongoing basis are in tune with what they want in life and work aggressivelyto get it using not only mundane efforts, but also their own personal energy combined with that of theUniverse.

When we want to use the energy of our physical body, it helps to know what causes our bones, muscles, and organs to become stronger and healthier. The specific goal of this book is to teach ways to make ourenergy centers and pathways stronger and healthier so that we can have a spiritual process that runssmoothly and efficiently.

Anyone can make a good argument for the idea that people want to be happy. There are always thosepeople who seem to thrive on misery and drama, but we are willing to bet that a person who engageslife with that type of dynamic will not likely read this book. We will therefore continue with the idea thatYOU want to be happy and joyful, not just occasionally, not just when X, Y, or Z happens, but everyday.

Have you ever considered whether God wants you to be happy? Does it sometimes seem that Godactively works against you and tries make you miserable? All of us have those moments of feeling thisway and often, it indicates a time when we are, knowingly or unknowingly, working against where ourlife’s purpose is leads us. Because we feel pulled in a direction we do not like, we begin to struggle andargue with God, resisting where God leads us.

That point of resistance is where the derailment begins. We receive nudges, hints, and encouragement totake a particular route and we put our heads up in the air and refuse. Soon, if we continue to resist, those “nudges” will turn into “beatings” and we will be discouraged from the direction we insist ontaking with increasing fervor until we finally do what God wants us to do. Think about this in terms ofchild behavior. Imagine a parent who knows that if their child eats only Pop Tarts and Cheetos, they willnot thrive and ultimately have a happy, healthy life. Perhaps the child knows that the highway is the bestplace to make a rubber ball bounce to the highest heights and is determined to get that degree of success. In each case, a good parent will take measure to prevent the child from doing what the child wants to doand feels is best for them and in each case, the child will likely rebel. The more the child escalates therebellious behavior, the graver the consequences will be, but ultimately, if the child has a good parent, they are going to eat something other than Pop Tarts and Cheetos and they are not going to go play ballin the highway.

Even as the wise adults we are, we often resist where The Universe leads us because it does not supportwhat we want to do at the time. We may be shown repeated signs that a relationship is not healthy forus, that a behavior needs to change, or that we should or should not follow a particular path. If ourConscious Self resists what our Higher Self tells us, there is tremendous conflict.

This behavior typically can create a cycle of misery. Imagine that you are in the middle of a raging river. The river current is strong and it is pulling you in a particular direction. You are on a little raft that is

Page 19: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

moving at breakneck speed. You do not want to be on the raft. You do not even want to be in the river. You wanted a friendly little drift in the sun and the rapids hit, pulling you into this vicious current. Youcannot see where the river is leading, but you know you are moving fast and the water is rough androcky. Your options are limited. You can fight against the current. You can get off the raft and begin toswim like mad, pushing your raft toward the shore that seems to get further away with every stroke. Youtake in huge gulps of river water. The raft shoves against you. The current bashes you up against jaggedrocks. It is possible that eventually, bruised and broken, you will arrive on the shore. It is not likely, butit is possible.

There is an alternative. Your raft is stable. It is moving quickly; at a terrifying rate, really. The water isslapping up over the raft and onto your clothes and the raft pitches and careens, but remains upright. You feel a wave of pioneering spirit come over you and you feel excitement course through you fromthe adrenalin of the ride. Part of you knows that this crazy white water rafting trip could be headed rightover a waterfall and you could be crushed to bits or drowned. You know that waterfalls exist and youknow that danger is real. You also know, however, that you have been on this trip many times before. Itis sometimes rocky and scary and it is sometimes fast and furious, but it always leads you to a goodplace. You take a deep breath and commit into the ride, confident that where ever it is going will besomewhere exciting and beneficial.

One of the benefits of aging is that you have the perspective of a significant past behind you. You canlook back and see that unerringly, when The Universe forced your hand and life led you somewhereagainst your will, you ultimately ended up in a better place. It might not have happened immediately, butas you look back over the series of events that took you to that better place, you can note where thetransition began. When you fully realize and internalize the knowledge that that repeatedly, “TheProcess” effectively led you to exactly where you needed to be, despite your best efforts, it becomeseasier to “Trust the Process.”

When we pursued a course of study in the sociological and psychological aspects of gerontology, one ofthe universal observations we found was that as we age, we become more spiritual. One might theorizethat we do so later in life because we are belatedly creating an afterlife to enter as our time on earthcloses. Instead, we believe that in relation to our current life, we begin to recognize intricate patterns thatdemonstrate to us that Someone or Something really does have a handle on this seemingly chaoticexperience we call life and that there is a sacred design to the process of life.

Faith comes easier when you are older because you have had more experience with a tenet that a dearfriend of mine frames up very simply: “God is efficient.” We can apply this premise to anything frommajor life redirection to karmic retribution. God is efficient.

If we are able to relax and have faith that the river, be it wild and raging or calm and smooth, is always, unerringly, taking us directly toward our own forward progress and greatest good, it changes how wesee and engage life. We lose the addiction to high drama, fear, and worry. How much of your time isconsumed by worry about the different aspects of your life? For many people, it is a significant energyinvestment and to what avail?

Worry is the direct antithesis of faith. Worry is, to be dramatic for a moment, a direct offense to Godbecause its implication is, “I do not trust You to handle this. I therefore must expend my own energy tofret about this.” What worry also says is, “I do not trust myself to handle this,” whatever “this” is. Thetruth of the matter is that, regardless of how much of a platitude it sounds, God will never give youmore challenges than you can bear.

That is not to say that life is easy for Bio-Universal energy folks. We lose jobs, have relationships fail,

Page 20: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

deal with family issues, face financial ruin, have cars break down, and encounter some of the samechallenges as anyone else. The difference is in how we approach and process those experiences.

When you have worked with Bio-Universal energy for a while, you begin to treat your life like thesecond strategy of managing that river. You stop fighting the river and no longer land on the shore, beaten and broken with nothing but a broken spirit and broken raft to show for your efforts. You stopgiving into the fear and panic. Instead, you lean into the experience and feel a rush of excitement forwhat is to come. You trust that what you are encountering is part of the process and that you have thetools to manage whatever comes up. There is no assurance that it will be easy, but you know without adoubt that it will be easier without the energy expenditure of worry and fear.

An example of showing faith in the face of fear is a deliberate exercise we used to employ wheneverEric was laid off from a job. In 2000, he left the military and secured an amazing job with MCIWorldcom. Eric was a talented telecommunications engineer with a real sense of how things work. Thejob with MCI brought with it a salary bigger than we ever imagined he would make. That job lasted forapproximately two months before the bottom fell out of the dot com industry in the San Francisco Bayarea and literally hundreds of companies went under, including MCI Worldcom, which handled thelion’s share of their accounts. Immediate layoffs rolled out and the last ones hired were, of course, thefirst ones to go.

This heralded a period that lasted for literally years in which Eric would secure a good job and shortlyafter, receive a layoff notice because the company was folding. It came to the point that Eric woulddirectly ask about the stability of a company before he accepted a job. This was a fruitless questionbecause either the person hiring him did not know how vulnerable the company truly was or they werecertainly not going to tell a prospective employee. Company after company shut down almost as soon asEric was hired. We could well have called him “Typhoid Eric” had we not known the problems thatplagued the entire industry at that time.

The first two or three times, we collapsed into fear. His income was our only source of sustenance sinceKatrina was a stay-at-home mother with little ones. We would begin having conversations aboutwhether or not Katrina would return to work. We would pare our expenses down to the barestessentials. We would worry, cry, and obsess together.

After about the third time, we began to see a rhythm to the process. Right when we were about to sink,he would get a job. Once, Katrina was about to start a job and on the day she was to begin, he gotanother fantastic job. Since it would take a large portion of her income to cover childcare, transportation, and other job-related expenses if he also worked, she declined the job. Every time wewere about to completely go under, things would work out.

We began to explore the concept of investing in that faith. If history showed that everything would workout, why did we need to be afraid? Why did we insist on engaging fear and panic when we had a bodyof evidence behind us to support the idea that we would be fine?

The next time Eric phoned and said, “It happened again. I’m officially laid off,” Katrina’s immediateresponse was, “Great! Let’s go out to eat!” From that time forward, we would take the last of our moneyand invest it into a grand feast at some restaurant. We would talk and eat and laugh and be grateful forthe time we were about to get to spend together during this break. We would talk about his “vacation”and all he could do during that time. Very few rational adults who would consider those actions to beresponsible, but you know what? Never once did we end up in a worse place for it. What happenedinstead is that the energy of our celebration of the loss of his job penetrated the situation completely andit usually turn around much faster.

Page 21: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

Whether we sat together and discussed the prospect of living in our VW bus for a while or talked aboutKatrina going back to work or even the prospect of leaving the area altogether, it was always done so asa possible positive choice. We would toast whatever plan The Universe had in store for us and settle into“trusting the process.” That does not mean we did nothing to help ourselves. Eric looked for workaggressively, turning over every stone and beating every bush until he found the next rung in the ladder. What it does mean, however, is that despite the rampant criticisms for our irresponsible behaviors, wecame through the experience without engaging the worry and fear and therefore, without disrupting theenergy flow or courting stress-related health issues.

Once you have banished the power that drama, worry, fear, doubt, insecurity, and resistance hold overyou, there is an “absence,” a kind of vacant place, where they used to be. Those unhealthy behaviorspreviously took up so much of your time and now that space where they used to be is empty. That iswhere the joy comes to live. All of those feelings are the obstacles to feeling true joy. When youeffectively banish them from your life, you are open to cultivating joy and not a moment before.

Take a moment to think of some of the sacred moments that you have experienced in your life. It ishighly unlikely that a person who has never had a moment they consider sacred would be reading thisbook, so we feel confident that if you take a minute, some will come to your mind. The sacred momentsin our lives have a specific energy and stand out in our memories. Those are times when we are in directcontact with what we know to be something larger and grander than ourselves and we feel without adoubt that we are a part of an intricate process at work in the Universe. We are part OF the Universe.

The goal of Bio-Universal energy work is to create a life in which those sacred experiences are the normrather than an occasional experience. Far from reducing those holy experiences down to a mundanelevel so that they are no longer special, this practice instead to elevates the baseline of our day-to-daylife to such a point that we live in the sacred and blessed moments on an ongoing basis, regularlyconnecting with the Divine in an intimate and co-operative fashion. Once you have released the holdthat those counter-productive practices had over your emotions and your time, you will notice that thosesacred moments happen more often.

We learn to process events that happen in everyday life not as attacks upon us or battles we must fight, but as points of guidance and learning potential. We see experiences not as something that happens tous, but as something that happens for us.

We begin to understand that God wants us to have a blessed, sacred life and to communicate with theDivine Spirit on a regular basis to keep our life on track toward our own manifest destiny.

But why? Why would God care if we are happy? To fully consider and effectively answer this questionand all it entails, we would have to actually define God and determine the origin of God. That willestablish the motives of God and at this point, we approach an area that is far beyond the provable andoutside of the skill set of humans. Since we are unable to aspire into that grand of a mindset, we have toinstead speculate based on the information we do have, even though it is highly subjective and open tointerpretation.

To all appearances, God seems to have an interest in the furthering of the human species. We can extendthat thought to say that God has an interest in the furthering of most species because nearly all livingcreatures are imbued with a will to live and the means to do so barring catastrophe. The survival of ourspecies and of ourselves by whatever means is encoded into our DNA. All creatures seem to have aninborn desire to thrive, expand, and adapt to the environment around them. Humans are no different –“further, faster, higher, and longer” are the driving mantra of all human endeavors.

Page 22: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

Within our human brains there lies an intricate network of receptors called the Pleasure Centers. Oncewe believed that these were the opioid receptors alone; however, recent studies indicate that this systemis actually far more complex. In essence, humans are programmed genetically to receive a particularquota of positive stimulation on a regular basis. When we are in deficit of that quota, we begin to sufferbreakdowns in our various systems. Behavioral scientists, believe this concept to be involved with theprocess of addiction. Drugs, alcohol, sex, shopping, video games, compulsive overeating, and otheraddictive behaviors quickly and effectively stimulate our pleasure centers. This also includes theaddictive behaviors of seeking out or attracting drama and fear into our lives that we mentioned in theprevious chapter, even if this desire is subconscious. We have known few drama queens who actuallybelieved they were drama junkies. If we are lacking in pleasurable stimulation, humans possess atremendous drive to correct this imbalance, so we go for the quick fixes.

This tells us that we are genetically engineered for the pursuit of joy and pleasure. Since we were madeby the Creator that means that our Creator wants us to be happy. It is the failing of humankind that weseparated ourselves out from our connection to God to the point that it is almost impossible for a lot ofus to ever actually BE happy other than in fleeting moments. We live our lives so disconnected fromGod and Nature that most of us rarely feel anything except fear and frustration. We begin to associatethe feeling of fear and panic with being alive.

When we connect with God/Goddess and the natural flow of life that permeates all things, which is thefoundation of Energy Magic, then a joyful existence is easier to create and maintain. As the old adagegoes, “What you want, wants you.” You want to be happy and happy wants you to have it. When youbegin to take steps to make yourself truly happy, even if those are painful and difficult steps, you will besurprised at how the Universe wraps around you and avenues to your success begin to open up.

Having established that God wants us to be happy, the question that we posed at the beginning of thissection remains. Why? Why does God want us to be happy?

The best answer we have is based on the contemplation between the microcosm and the macrocosm. Aneffective way to do this is to consider The Hundredth Monkey Theory is a fascinating premise thatoriginated on the Japanese island of Koshima in 1952. In a study performed on macaque monkeys, scientists worked with two controlled sets of monkeys on separate islands. All of the monkeys werefond of sweet potatoes and ate them like mad. The scientists introduced bowls of salt water into theirenvironments at both locations. At first, the monkeys ignored the salt water because it was not pleasantto drink.

In one of the environments, the scientists showed a couple of the monkeys how to wash their sweetpotatoes in the salt water for a different flavor. The monkeys repeated the behavior and other monkeyscaught on. The behavior spread. In the other environment where the monkeys were not shown how towash their sweet potatoes, they continued to ignore the water.

According to the scientists, the “hundredth monkey” to wash his sweet potato in salt water represented a“critical mass consciousness” and the monkeys in the second environment (an island away, in fact) whopreviously ignored the salt water spontaneously began washing their sweet potatoes in salt water oncethe hundredth monkey began the practice. The scientists speculated that the collective animalconsciousness of the hundred monkeys caused the remote monkeys to pick up on the brain waves andtake action accordingly.

Like all good psychological theories, there were eventually those who denounced the findings andpoked holes in the theories. We have studied psychology long enough to know that any theory can bediscredited given the appropriate motivation and pre-existing bias. Much like religion and politics, the

Page 23: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

factions in psychology remain hotly polarized to the point that immediate lack of credibility isimmediately presumed if a study comes from an opposing perspective. There are many examples in theanimal kingdom of animals that seem to read one another’s minds from a distance and respond intandem. There is also the very apt musing of the Old Bard himself who said, “There are more things inheaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

The ones who denounce this theory and others like it that may inure to the belief of any intangiblereality are the same ones who Hazrat Khan speaks of in his work, “The Mysticism of Sound andMusic.” In this exposition, Khan expresses his frustration over the inability of the human race to lookbeyond material existence and purports that we are “likened unto an observer of a mechanism andthrough observation alone will expend vast energy and resources to create all sorts of inquiries, studiesand conjectures into the nature of the mechanism, but at the same time fail to engage in deepcontemplation and realize that there is an engineer by whose hand the mechanism was made manifest inthe first place.” The existence of the mechanism itself is indicative of an engineer, just as a book isindicative of an author. So too is creation itself indicative of a Creator and this creator certainly has thepower of intelligent design. This is the heart of the relationship between the microcosm and themacrocosm and also of such premises of “As above, so below” and “God made man in His only image.”

If we, as the individual microcosms of the human race, make a concerted effort to become moreenlightened, sacred people (note we did not say “religious” people) and as a result, become happier, kinder people, does that not then further the entirety of the human race toward that critical massconsciousness? What if it does not and the whole thing is a myth? What have we lost if we, in fact, made only ourselves enormously happy in the process?

Why does God want us to be happy? If we (the microcosm) are happy, we are part of the tilting balancethat takes the entire human race (the macrocosm) toward a more spiritual, loving, and sacred existenceand away from a critical mass that is mired in fear and frustration. What we want, wants us. We justhave to make the inroads to receive.

Many religions are built on the idea of exclusively receiving and view the relationship between God andhumans as a one-way street. Many sacred texts tell us that we must act in accord and “The Lord helpsthose who help themselves.” In Bio-Universal energy work, we contribute our own energy to theprocess of manifestation by harnessing the energy of our own free will and directing it toward our goal, working in tandem with the blessings from the Universe.

This creates a dynamic relationship that we share with God focused on the co-operative goal of movingtoward the Greatest Good…your Greatest Good. THAT is the purest definition of spiritual health and itis why we study the energy centers and pathways in our bodies. The more we understand what little isknown about the way our personal “bio” energy moves through our bodies, the better we are able tocultivate a confident, healthy, enthusiastic flow of that energy, not only through our bodies, but directedtoward our individual goals as well.

Chapter 4 - The Chakras and Meridians

As we begin our study of the energy that moves through our bodies, connecting the two selves together,it is important that we recognize and acknowledge that the energy system of the body is every bit asvital, present, and real in the physical sense as our vital other systems. This is not something abstract orinvented by new age practitioners. Ancient Chinese medicine, for instance, has used the study andmanipulation of this system for thousands of years to heal people of physical and emotional maladies.Granted, the energy system is not as well understood or studied as many of our other systems, simplybecause westernized medicine refuses to admit its existence as it is exceedingly difficult to measure andtest with present medical devices. Just as early scientists refused to believe that the world was round, enforced ignorance does not change what is. Once the proper technology was in place and a greaterknowledge was gained, the world suddenly became round! Now we know that you have an endocrinesystem, a circulatory system, a digestive system, and a respiratory system, but consider that you alsohave an energy system.

Most energy workers agree that we have seven power points lined up in our bodies that make up thechakra points. Some practitioners dug deeper into the process and identified even more energy points;however, for our purposes, we will focus on the seven primary points. These energy centers regulate theflow of energy into and throughout the body.

Energy meridians connect the chakra points and act as the vessels that circulate the energy we take inand for the chakra points to process. Throughout the meridian system, there are many trigger pointswhere the energy can be affected by a congestion of energy that slows down the flow or by actions wetake to speed up the flow. These trigger points along the meridians are what a masseuse, anacupuncturist, or an acupressure practitioner use to stimulate certain body responses. Often, energy willbecome “stuck” in one of these trigger points, creating a “hot spot” that is sore to even light pressure.Massage and energy transference work will often correct the problem and get the energy flow movingagain. For instance, one of the most common places where energy becomes congested is on the upperchest, just below the collarbones. Many people feel discomfort when those areas are massaged, evenlightly, but the discomfort abates through continued massage and the area feels better, freer even, afterward.

The lymphatic system is essential to the release of excessive or unhealthy energy that builds up in thisintricate network and acts as a series of “exit points” for the discharge of this energy. You can see howclosely our energy processing system mirrors our nutrient processing system. The chakra points are liketiny hearts for different kinds of energy. The meridians are like our blood vessels and arteries. Thelymphatic system is like our bladder and kidneys. The difference is that we are processing energyinstead of oxygen and food nutrients.

These chakra points, energy meridians and the flow of energy into, through, and out of our bodies arevital to our health on all three levels: spirit, mind, and body. This triad must be in balance to reach ourmaximum health potential. When any one of these three is compromised, the other two suffer as well.Just as we have to care for our bodies to achieve maximum health, we also have to care for our mindsand our spirits. Balance is essential; otherwise, all the hard work we do to benefit the body will onlyresult in partial success. Consider the people you know who are fanatical about how they look, butobjective physical health and self-esteem may be almost non-existent. The effect is similar.

We identify each of the seven chakras with a body location and a specific color. The chakras react to thefrequency of the color with which they are associated and the resonance of that frequency affects

Page 27: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

specific aspects of our lives; therefore, a congestion or blockage in one of the chakra areas can cause aphysical manifestation of circumstances in the outside world related to the concept governed by thatchakra.

Let’s go through the seven chakras one by one, starting at the bottom.

The first chakra is RED and is located at the very base of the spine: the tailbone. It is the energy centerclosest to the earth on our bodies and is therefore called the “root chakra.” It is related to our most basicsurvival needs and our sense of belonging in the world. Blockages in this area can cause us to feelanxious, worried, fretful, and unworthy of blessings. This chakra guides us in our “fight or flight”response and when tune to it well, it lets us know if our actions are for our own greatest good. It is thecenter of our sense of security and safety, as well as our feeling of belonging and our ability to survive. It holds our ability to trust and our sense of “home.” Those who are hoping to survive a zombieapocalypse must have a strong 1st chakra.

The second chakra is ORANGE and is in the area of our internal reproductive organs (both male andfemale). Not only is this the progenerative part of our bodies and therefore connected to physical birth, but it is also our creative center and the place where our ideas and genius are given life. This chakrakeeps our intimate relationships clear, clean, and healthy. It holds within it our passion and our love oflife. Blockages in this area may cause “writer’s block” or other manifestations of blocked creativity, aswell as sexual dysfunction and a lack of interest in life. The second chakra governs our deepestinterpersonal relationships and when at optimum health, allows us to set healthy boundaries and resolveconflicts and personal issues in a way that is positive and constructive. This chakra also helps us toachieve balance in relationships and avoid over-dependency.

The third chakra is YELLOW and is in the solar plexus. It governs our self-esteem and houses ourown personal power. The third chakra is what allows us to transition our dreams and goals over intomanifestation rather than remaining simply dreams and goals. When there is an energy blockage in thisarea, we often have a string of failures behind us and feel powerless and frustrated. This chakra helps usto define our social identity. The health of this energy point decides our degree of balanced self-esteemand connects us with our sense of responsibility and accountability. This chakra is the area mostdamaged by addictions.

The fourth chakra is GREEN and is located in the heart. It relates to pure love, empathy, andcompassion and is responsible for our ability to connect deeply with other people. When it isobstructed, we often feel lonely and alienated from the rest of the world. Our heart chakra, as you canimagine, controls our empathic nature and our emotional health.

The fifth chakra is BLUE and is located in the throat. As such, it relates to communication and ourability to express ourselves effectively. The essence of truth lives in this chakra. When there is ablockage in this area, we are likely to lack confidence in what we say and over-think and over-censorour words, preventing the effective and complete expression of truth and meaning. The throat chakragoverns our ability to successfully communicate, listen, comprehend, and interact with others.

The sixth chakra is INDIGO and is located on the brow in the region of the third eye, which is rightbetween our two eyes. This chakra is the processing center for insight on all levels and is where weassimilate all of the information we receive from our senses and our intuitive nature. It connects us toour own inner wisdom and Higher Self and teaches us to trust ourselves. It is the litmus test for our ownbetter sense against what is out there in the world and guides us in whether or not we should reframeour impression of reality based on new information or stick to what we know to be true. When there is

Page 28: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

a blockage in this area, we are riddled with self-doubt and do not trust ourselves. This chakra affects areperception and mental clarity. It is through this point that we develop our sense of morality as well asour fears.

The seventh chakra is VIOLET and is located at the crown of the head. We therefore referred to it asthe “crown” chakra. Through this energy point, we are able to connect to Divine energy with pureawareness. It is said that this chakra point is the “Thousand Petaled Lotus,” which bursts open when weremember our true life’s mission and experience full enlightenment. It holds the secret of our life’spurpose and our relationship with God. It is through this chakra that we enter into our place inUniversal Flow and begin to become fully self-aware.

An Exercise

As you have just read, our individual chakra points all resonate with a particular color. Experimentshave been done with actual light waves, exposing the exact chakra point to a flood of its associatedcolor with very positive results. It has been found that equally productive results can be achieved byvisualizing the colors over their individual chakra points. The following meditation, done on a regularbasis, can help to clear out blockages in your chakras and keep the flow and cycle within thesemarvelous energy centers running smoothly and efficiently.

Find a comfortable position at a time when you will not be interrupted. Play some relaxing music ifyou’d like. Close your eyes.

Take several very deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth, slowly and steadily, feeling the flow of air into, through, and out of your body. In, two, three, four – Out, two, three, four.

Let your tummy and chest rise up and expand with each breath.

Breathe in; breathe out.

Each time you exhale, become more and more relaxed. In, two, three, four – Out, two, three, four. Tryto slow your breathing as much as possible without becoming mentally or physically anxious for thenext breath.

Each time you exhale, feel yourself becoming more rooted into the place where you are sitting or lyingdown.

Continue this process until you can no longer tell where YOU begin and the floor/couch/bed/chair orwhatever you are sitting on or lying on ends.

Imagine that you are becoming slightly formless and that you are dissolving a little around the edges, melting into the structure that supports you.

Deep breaths continue, in the nose, out the mouth. In, two, three, four – Out, two, three, four.

Do not become alarmed if you begin to feel a little “floaty.” This is normal as you let go of the tensionwe all carry around every day. Rather than fight against the sensation, welcome it and allow yourself todrift a bit.

At this point, your mind will begin to become still. Immediately you will notice thoughts anddistractions enter into your awareness. This is normal and takes a great deal of practice to eliminate. Tobegin in the practice, simply allow the thought to intrude, briefly contemplate it and then let it go. Intime the intrusions of thought will be less frequent as the mind learns discipline. This is the mostimportant practice in learning to completely quiet the mental chatter of the mind.

Be patient with yourself.

Normalize your breathing and imagine that you are drawing the energy of the Earth from below you andfocus on the area of your tailbone. Visualize this area flooded with the most beautiful, scarlet light youcan imagine. Brilliant red fills this entire area. Sit with this for a moment until your visualization is solidin your mind.

Next, move the energy to the area of your sexual organs, both internal and external. Visualize a vibrantorange color blending up from the red in your tailbone. Fill your lower body with this strong and warmorange color. Take your time and let that imagery become firm in your mind.

Page 30: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

Once you have solidified that visualization, move the energy on to your solar plexus, which is the arearight between and just below your nipples. Flood this area with unimaginably bright yellow. Let theyellow color move all through the area of the solar plexus.

When you have this visualization fully in place, concentrate on the area around your heart and move theenergy towards it. Imagine it completely filled with intense, emerald green. See the green color pulseand glow in your heart area.

Next, move the energy up to your throat and see it permeated with a brilliant sapphire blue color. Feelthe blue move all through your throat area.

Once you have the visualization of blue in place at your throat, move on to your brow and imagine itinfused with indigo light. See it move as a band of healing color around your head.

Lastly, draw the energy toward to very top of your head and see a violet light around the top of yourhead; the area that would be exposed on top if you wore a circlet crown. Feel a slight tug as that violetlight reaches upward and outward to connect to the Divine.

Breathe regularly and deeply. See yourself as a color spectrum with all of you chakra points workingeffectively and harmoniously. Understand that in this moment, you are living the experience of Bio-Universal energy by connecting your energy to God’s energy. In this moment, anything is possible.Spend some time in this sacred space. The pure energy of life and existence moves through you fromthe Earth to the Sky, filling your mind, body and spirit with existence itself.

When you are ready, begin to breathe in deeply again: In, two, three, four – Out, two, three, four.Mentally pull your body back into cohesiveness. Feel the edges of your body becoming more defined.Starting at the crown of your head, pull the violet color back into its source and bury it deeply withinyour crown energy point. Moving down your body, do the same with the indigo at your brow, the blueat your throat, the green at your heart, yellow at your solar plexus, orange at your sexual organs, and redat the base of your spine. As you mentally pass through each energy point, pull the energy into itssource and bless the area.

Feel your body returning back to its conscious state with your energy centers clean, clear, andrevitalized. Take several deep breaths and open your eyes. All energy workings are empowered in thisexalted state.

Chapter 5 - The Aura

As humans, we have an “aura” that emanates from our bodies that is normally unseen by the naked eye. This is our own electromagnetic field that radiates our personal energy into the world. It creates our“bubble” of personal space around us. Many people are able to train themselves to see the auras of thepeople around them. It is a similar process as training oneself to see the 3-D pictures in Magic Eyeartwork. As with Magic Eye pictures, once you see the aura, it becomes difficult to not see it. It is simplya way of adjusting the vision and training yourself to see in a different way. Our auras change accordingto our mood and our health on all levels. Auras are thought to be another place where the soul or theHigher Self lives. From a scientific perspective, the aura is related to our own electromagnetic field thatemanates from our bodies.

Auras can be photographed using a sophisticated process called Kirlian photography. This is an exampleof Kirlian photography used to photograph a person’s hands:

Auras of different colors tend to denote specific personality types and moods. You can clearly see theviolet and white colors radiating from this person’s hands. Seeing a person’s aura involves training inequal amounts of the following:

1) Determining what lighting best allows YOU to see an aura (can you see them better when a person isbacklit, front-lit, side-lit, in low high or bright light?).

2) Learning to defocus your eyes and look past the person so that you see them primarily in yourperipheral vision, which is less judgmental and more open to seeing the unexpected without our directperception filters.

3) Relaxing your eyes in a particular way that thins out the veil between the worlds. This is a matter ofnothing more than practice, practice, and practice.

4) Letting go of years of conditioning to believe that you can’t see an aura and that people do not glow.

5) Learning to trust what you see when you see it and being open to gasping, “THERE IT IS!!” whenyou see it for the first time.

6) Practice, practice, practice.

Aura detection is not something that can be taught to a person by another person. The above steps areessential to success, but truly, the only way to see an aura is to follow those steps repeatedly again untilit happens. For some people, this takes minutes. For others, it might be days, weeks, months, or evenyears.

Page 34: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

As you may have guessed or intuited, the color of a person’s aura is very indicative of their mood andpersonality. You will find that the color associations listed below regarding auras to be consistentthroughout our study of Bio-Universal energy, which shows the lovely synchronicity of the energy ofthe natural world. Chapter 6 - The Third Eye

The “third eye” is a concept embraced by many cultures. It is associated with the brow chakra, which isassociated with the color purple (for more information on the chakra points, please see Part 1 of thisclass series, “The Chakras and the Meridians.” Friar Richard Rohr speculates that “first eye” is what weperceive with the five physical senses. The “Second eye” is our reasoning and reflection. The “Thirdeye” goes further still and is, as Rohr puts it, “Having the mind of Christ.” It is a coming together ofsacredness that puts one in a very holy and receptive state of mind. Many paths of yogic study use thethird eye for inner focus.

The Hindu people honor the inner guru by placing a dot of red sandalwood on the brow or Ajna(Aadnyaa) chakra. Their interpretation of this chakra is “command center.” When a person closes theireyes and the distraction of visual stimulation goes away, often their eyes automatically shift upward withtheir “vision” directed toward the area of the third eye. (Go on, try it. Relax, close your eyes, and seewhat they do.)

The Ajna chakra is said to be the exit point for the kundalini, which is the coiled life force of energy thatresides in the first and second chakras. The kundalini is traditionally called the “sleeping serpent” or thedormant sacred power because it is the life force that awakens during times of great enlightenment andspiritual bliss. At those times, it begins to uncurl and ascend upward through the other chakra points, lighting them up as it goes.

Many cultures cover the area in front of the third eye, both to protect the gateway to the kundalini fromoutside contamination and to contain the energy within the person. The most common form of third eyeor Ajna protection is the “bindi” or “bindu,” which is the “dot” that you see sometimes see between theeyebrows worn on the practitioners of the yogic traditions. This may be accomplished by paint or gluingon a jewel or other decoration.

The third eye is thought to refer to the pineal gland, a tiny part of our endocrine system embeddeddeeply between the two hemispheres of the brain, surrounded by a web of carotid arteries. Its locationtracks directly back into the brain from the center of the forehead, generally considered to be the “thirdeye” point. Philosopher René Descartes studied the pineal gland with great interest and referred to it as“the principal seat of the soul.”

The 19th century Christian mystic, Max Heindel theorized that the human pituitary and pineal gland weremuch more active in the past and has said “when man was in touch with the inner worlds, these organswere his means of ingress thereto.” Other theorists have joined with his notions that these essentialglands are very dormant versions of how they operated in our ancestors.

Certainly, the pineal gland controls some of our most important functions. It is responsible for releasingmelatonin and therefore, governing our circadian rhythms. This is accomplished through the pinealgland’s interpretation of light and darkness, which in and of itself is a concept with mystical overtones.A disruption in the health of the pineal gland can result in sleep disorders and bipolar disorder. A minorexample of disrupted circadian rhythms is the effect of jet lag.

If you think about it, the pineal gland is the “Guardian at the Gate” of sleep and really, what could bemore magical than that? Sleep is the time when we dream, so the pineal gland is the gateway into ourmost free and sacred self. Dreamtime is where many of our divinely inspired messages reside and is aline of direct access to the Divine where our own reserves and boundaries are non-existent and ourHigher Self roams free.

Page 39: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

When the third eye, the aura, the chakras and the meridians are considered as a system of energymanagement, it is easy to see how intricately bodies and spirits are wired to function interactive to createa fully magical being. We are not only a sophisticated biological entity, but at the same time, ameticulously crafted energy circuit board that comes to life when the console knows how to light upproperly.

Throughout many of the books in our Bio-Universal Energy Series, you will hear us talk about thenecessity for balance. In this case, the energy network that runs through your body is every bit asimportant as the system that sustains your biological life. They are, in fact, perfectly interwoven andinteractive so that when both systems are healthy and working in harmony, you have achieved truespiritual balance.

Chapter 7 - Marrying Up the Selves Again

The goal of using Bio-Universal energy is to bridge the gap between the Conscious Self and the HigherSelf so they have free communication with one another on an ongoing basis. The way that we do that isby cultivating an outlook based on faith and trust in the process, by aggressively working to createhealth and strength in our energy system, and by learning all we can about techniques to improve ourrelationship with The Divine. Rarely is this a perfect process and it is, in fact, a lifelong commitment tocontinual betterment in this regard. We do believe that full integration is likely possible with tremendousdedication over a long period; however, even a partial reconnect provides tremendous benefits to thosewho make the effort. If you need to lose weight to achieve optimum physical health, every pound youlose makes you healthier and brings you closer to this goal. Similarly, every step you take towardoptimum spiritual and energy health also creates greater health in that system and by association yourmental and physical systems as well. The separation of the two selves that we have described is anevolutionary development and, as Max Heindel proposed, it is likely that the dormant pineal gland andthe pituitary gland likely played a more significant role in joining these two forms of awareness in priorhuman culture. This simply means we have to work harder at achieving this level of spiritual health thandid our ancestors.

Although the Conscious Self and Higher Self do have difficulty communicating at our current point inhuman development, there are certain activities that we can employ to allow them to bridge that gap, ifonly for short periods of time. When we are dreaming, for instance, Higher Self uses prompts from theexperiences of Conscious Self to work through inner conflict. In dreams, we usually processinformation in symbolic form rather than in literal translation. Symbols and images are a commonlanguage between the Conscious and Higher Selves. Whereas there was likely a time in history when wecould access Higher Self just as easily as we reach Conscious Self, we now have to create specificcircumstances to allow them to communicate. This is how divorced these two sacred and vital selveshave become from one another at this point in human development. The good news is that by regularlycreating these “safe places” for the two selves to communicate, their communication becomes muchmore fluid and frequent.

Because of the similarities in brain waves to dreaming, meditation is another of those self-createdpractices that bridges the chasm between Conscious Self and Higher Self. It is not easy to master, butthis is one case where practice definitely makes perfect. When you learn to meditate effectively, yourHigher Self becomes more accessible in non-meditative times and you are better able to tune into thedifferent power centers and other critical points in your energy system to keep the flow movingsmoothly and freely.

Bio-Universal energy practice is about re-introducing our two sacred selves to one another and teachingthem to communicate on a regular basis. This creates that “in the zone” feeling and puts you in thatperfect balance between the two selves. It is what cultivates and encourages those unique, sacredmoments in life and opens the pathways to a joyful and engaged life. It is essential to realize that HigherSelf and Conscious Self are equally essential. Neither is more important or desirable than the other andeach needs the other to function appropriately. Of course, the ideal situation is a perfect balance betweenthe Conscious and Higher Selves.

Imagine that your Conscious and Higher Selves are from different countries and do not speak the samelanguage. They need to communicate, but how can they do so? Just as people from different countrieswould do, they look for commonalities; words and gestures that they both understand. It is rocky and

Page 43: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

inefficient at first, but before long, they are able to speak to one another fluidly, simply because it wasimportant enough to them to invest the time, creativity, and energy to make the communion happen.

Since Conscious Self is chatty, easily distracted and possibly neurotic; and Higher Self is cryptic, esoteric, and deep, it is essential that at first, we find common ground on which they can meet. We havealready discussed that dreamtime is a kind of free for all where the Selves are metaphorically given theBabel Fish and can communicate easily with one another. They will not likely remember much abouttheir conversation when the person is awake again, but in the interim, they have been sharing timeeffectively and sometimes, constructively.

Meditation mimics this, but is more difficult to achieve and takes a good bit of practice. The greatestchallenges are to get the Conscious Self to stop babbling in our heads and to gently coax Higher Self outof hiding and encourage it to speak.

Symbols are another common language and that is why symbolism is often prominent in dreams. Thereare prompts to which our Higher Selves respond. This is not due to their specific esoteric value, butbecause they have been used for thousands of years to represent a particular concept and over time andthat information is embedded into our DNA structures.

The Higher Self is able to look at this:

...and understand “Sun”

It is able to look at this:

…and understand “Infinity”

Very basic and long-existing symbols speak to the Higher Self and that is why runes, ancient alphabets, and generalized symbols are meaningful to us as humans and have endured throughout the ages.

Cultural influences can sometimes override our “collective consciousness” reaction to specific symbols. In essence, we see a symbol and Higher Self says, “Wait! I know that!” and Conscious Self says, “No,you do not. Shut up.”

An example is the pentacle:

Page 44: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

To the Higher Self, this still means what it meant in ancient times and for the largest number of years inhuman history: a representation of the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit joined togetherequilaterally in a cohesive circle. For many people, Conscious Self overrides and screams, “NO, that is asymbol of the Devil!” due to the exposure of the Conscious Self to cultural biases and inaccuracies.

The trick is to find symbols where you are certain the Conscious Self and Higher Self are speaking thesame language and not vying to be “right.”

In addition to symbols, another common language between the two selves is color. People havepsychological reactions to different colors, both individually and as a species. For individuals, thereaction is more of a conditioned response. For the species, it is a collective response that is typical tomost humans. Prisons and hospitals, for instance, we rarely paint hospitals and prisons red or brightyellow. These colors are stimulating and can excite and sometimes agitate people. More commonly, weuse mint greens, pastel blues and soft earth tones because they are calming. The vibratory frequency of acolor, as well as how our chakra points resonate with it, causes the color to become a stimulus to whichthe Higher Self responds, thereby controlling the Conscious Self. It is as though the programming itselfis circumnavigated and is instead hardwired.

Music is one of the easiest ways to join the two selves together. This method is unique to each personand there is no one type of music that is more likely to stimulate the Higher Self than any other. HigherSelf speaks the musical language fluently and it has been said that musical composition actuallyoriginates not in the conscious mind, but in the Higher Self. That means that music truly is a gift fromGod. You will know a particular piece of music has left the realm of “Oh, that’s nice” and gone into aspiritual experience when you feel the hairs ease up on your arms and the goose bumps rise. When youhear a lyric or instrumental segment speak directly to you, as if it was composed specifically with you inmind, that is your Higher Self talking. For us, drumming sinks us directly into Higher Self mode. We arenot referring to the Buddy Rich, Ringo Starr drumming, but the primal drumming of the djembe players. We feel a pull in the lower abdomen and solar plexus area as soon as good earth drumming starts andwithin moments, we are in a fully magical state. Each person has their musical triggers that send theminto a near trance state. If you think about it, you likely can identify your own without much thought. The easy answer to that question tells you how personal music is to us, how deeply some piecesresonate, and how universal that connection can be.

God/The Goddess/The Universe/Creator speaks to us through our Higher Selves and since our HigherSelves speak in symbols, that is how we receive divine messages. Sometimes, however, we will seesomething through our Conscious Selves that causes an immediate reaction in our Higher Selves, eventhough it is not working through symbolism.

Once, we were out for a drive, worrying on an issue that had plagued us for a few weeks. We’d prayedabout it and sent energy toward the resolution, but we kept coming back to the idea that we could domore; that we should have seen results by that time. At that moment, we drove past a church and thesign out front said, “Do not dig up in doubt what you planted in faith.” The hairs went up on the backof our necks and we each looked at the other to see if they had seen it and felt the same. It was asthough God spoke to us directly through Conscious Self and gave us the answer we needed. We let goof the situation causing us so much concern and it quickly righted itself.

We all have stories like these. A song on the radio, a billboard, a chance comment even by a stranger cansound like the word of God in our ears and guess what? It is. When we accept this process as anongoing reality rather than an isolated coincidence, we begin to tune in more deeply and receiveguidance from God that we would otherwise overlook. That is another effect of Energy Magic. When

Page 45: Reuniting the Two Selves - Katrina Rasbold

we disconnect from Higher Self, we disconnect from the part of ourselves that is most responsive toGod’s influence. This causes us to, in turn, disconnect from God.

As you fully and intentionally activate Bio-Universal energy in your daily life, you will begin to find thatinsights come more easily. Why? Because your two selves are more closely integrated and their lines ofcommunications are more open. When these occurrences become more frequent and we recognize themimmediately as the sacred experiences that they are, we then know that we have made tremendousprogress toward integrating the two selves. In essence, each self is beginning to learn the language of theother and they are starting to communicate more fluently.

When this happens, ideas that feel more like “original thought” occur spontaneously rather than allthoughts manifesting as just another link in the ongoing thought chain of the day. These are yourguidance from God and your blessings. You are hearing your Higher Self speak.

Just like any other kind of exercise, you will begin to flex the “muscles” that help you to tune into thevoice and language of the Higher Self. As you foster greater communication between your Higher Selfand your Conscious Self, you will naturally feel your relationship with and connection to The Divinedeepen significantly. You will feel the influence of God more easily in your life and will begin to feel atone with the concert of natural energy in life. Miracles will begin to show up out of nowhere to thepoint that you will forget what it is like to not live a miraculous life. Opportunities for success willmanifest seemingly from nowhere. When you need to make a choice, it will be easier for you to seewhich path is ultimately the most advantageous. It is like tuning directly into a frequency that previouslyhad only fuzzy reception. The transmitter was always there, always broadcasting. The difference is thatyou now have access to the tuning button and can dial in the frequency with greater precision andaccuracy.

Blessed Be.
