PROJECT IDEA PROPOSAL

1. Statement of the problem

Performance of a tyre is measured by evaluating running at different pressures of the tyre, observing different patterns of the tyre and at different speeds of the car.

2. Objective

To determine what factors affect the performance of a tyre. I intend to measure performance at different pressures for the tyre. The second factor I will consider is the pattern of the tyre. The final factor is speed at which tyre runs.

3. Choice of factors. 1. Pressure

a) Higher Pressureb) Lower Pressure

2. Pattern of the tyre

a) Pattern 1b) Pattern 2

3. Speed

a) Higher b) Lower

4. Factors that are constant

1. Make of the car2. Terrain of road

5. Selection of the response variable

The objective is to optimize the factors that affect the performance of tyre. The experiment is performed to give optimum operating parameters for the tyre. The experiment is carried out by considering different pressures, patterns and at various speeds for the tyre.

6. Design of the experiment

The main factors to be considered in this experiment are pressure, pattern and speed of vehicle. The factors have two levels each. Considering 2k factorial design. Where K is No of factors (3)

We have 3 factors and each factor has two levels, so we need to complete 2*2*2 = 2 ^3 experiments. As each experiment must be done twice therefore we will be required to do 8*2 = 16 experiments in total.

Order of the experiment:1. Considering a value of speed, pressure and pattern for the tyre.2. Measure tire depth and wear..

This experiment is repeated with all cases of pressures, speed and patterns of tyre.
