The Big Bundle Up
A reminder to all members that we are participating in The Big Bundle Up in conjunction with Travel Wisconsin to collect warm weather gear
for those in need. We have set a goal of 750 warm weather items to donate to local organizations. The campaign ends January 4, 2013.
If you would still like to participate, just e-mail [email protected] with specifics so we can keep track and make arrangements for the
Bureau to collect items and dollar donations (we’ll also take care of purchasing the items.)
Or if you have been collecting items and need the Bureau to pick up your items, please contact Julia Randles at (608) 254-7180, ext. 307 or
Many thanks in advance for considering.

Let Your wisdells.com Listing Work Harder For You
Is Your Business Fully Represented?
We encourage all members to review their wisdells.com listing and make any necessary changes for 2013. Each member receives a free
listing and photo that showcases their property. Listings are 600 characters that describe your property in full sentences and "sells" the
benefits, services and/or amenities of your business. Each property has the ability to update their contact information and text description via
the MembersNet section of the web site. Visitors are able to view additional information under each of the following tabs:
Overview Tab
Consists of your business information (i.e. business name, phone number(s), location address, email address and web site link.)
Bureau members are required to have a return link to the Bureau on their home page.
1.
Hours
There are two options to showcase your hours of operation; if you currently have your hours listed on your web site, we will link
directly to your site (provided you have an active link), or simply submit them to us and we will enter them directly.
2.
Prices Tab
If you participated in the 2013 Accommodation & Attraction Price Guide, we will use your submitted pricing and place your
information under the price tab on your listing(s). If you have a more complicated pricing structure we will direct link (provided you
have an active link) the visitor to prices on your web site. If you did not participate in the price guide and would like your prices
included, please submit your prices to Julia Randles.
3.
More Information Tab
Text Directions - If you have directions listed on your web site, we will copy them and enter them on your wisdells.com
listing. If not, please provide us the appropriate directions to your business.
4.
Awards - If your property or business has received any type of award and you would like to share this great accomplishment
with visitors, please provide 100 characters or less of the information for that award.
Photos Tab
You have the ability to showcase your property with nine (9) additional photos of your property. They will be set up the same size as
our gallery photos tab within each division and will then pop up a new window to see the larger photo. Photos need to be provided in
high resolution in either jpg, gif or tif format (PC Format). Each photo will have a default caption of your business name, unless
another label is provided. Visitors have the ability to share or print the photos.
5.
For questions regarding your web site listing, members may contact Julia Randles at (608) 254-7180, ext. 307 or [email protected].

Social Speak
Social Media Trends for Tourism in 2013
Tourism Currents just published their take on social media tourism trends for 2013. We happen to think these are spot on and wanted to
share them with you.
Pictures, Pictures and more Pictures – with Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, Foodspotting and all the other sites that emphasize social
photography, it is clear that visual content is what the public wants. Looks like 2013 will be a big year for images across all channels
(including video) because they allow our visitors and customers to digest information quickly, emotionally and in a way that is easy to
share.
Integration of social media – No one should still be looking at social media as a stand-alone channel or afterthought. For example,
when you consider advertising spend, part of that discussion should cover whether you want to do Facebook advertising. Social
media mentions, Likes, shares etc. are now part of search engine ranking algorithms, too. It all matters, so think holistically.
Storytelling will shine – Storytelling shows personality, and humans with a personality are what our visitors crave. Having that
compelling story-telling voice builds strong relationships with your visitors and keeps them coming back for more. Every destination is
an online publisher, content creator and storyteller.
Your locals, visitors and partners are crowdsourcing content for you right now, and will continue to do so – They are tweeting,
Facebooking, taking photos and blogging, but often are never acknowledged, and too rarely do they see you commenting on and
sharing their content. Why not build your content with those who love and support you? This plays right into Trend 2: being human.
LISTENING and RESPONDING will create content. Saying “Thank You” creates content. Sharing good stuff = content. For more information or
to view the entire article, click here.

Classic Wisconsin Dells
Is your business a “classic”? Classic Wisconsin Dells designations allow visitors to identify with attractions, restaurants, hotels, retail, festivals
and events that authentically convey a classic experience in the area. Designated businesses will be entitled to use the Classic Wisconsin Dells
logo in all advertising materials and will be supplied with logos and window decals. Additionally, they will be promoted on wisdells.com in the
Classic section and in other promotional and media opportunities.
To qualify as a Classic Wisconsin Dells business you must be a Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau member with a business
(attractions, accommodations, campgrounds, restaurants, shopping and visitor services) that has been in operation for 30 or more years. In
addition, you must meet three of the four historical business criteria as follows:
Name: The business name has remained the same since operational inception.
Ownership: The original business continues to be owned, or operated, by the same family, owners or operators.
Location: The business has remained in the exact same location over time.
Experience: The visitor experience has remained the same over time.
For questions regarding the Classic designation, members may contact Kelly Kienbaum at (608) 254-7180, ext. 340 or [email protected].

2013 Employee Entertainment Cards Available January 2
The 2013 Employee Entertainment Cards will be available for distribution beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Cards and vouchers will be
available to purchase year-round, Monday - Friday, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Visitor Bureau's 115 La Crosse Street entrance.
Also, Thursdays in June & July, we will be selling the Employee Entertainment Card from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at our 701 Superior Street
entrance for those employees who are unable to pick up their cards during our normal hours.

alleviates the need for employees to show photo identification when using the card.
To purchase a card at the Visitor Bureau, an employee must be 14 years old and must bring:
$15 cash or employer-purchased voucher.
Driver's license or photo I.D. (employees ages 14-16 years old must present a social security card).
Current paycheck stub verifying employment with a Visitor Bureau member.
Vouchers are available for member businesses to purchase for their employees for $10 each. Please contact Bonnie at the number below to
purchase the vouchers. A 24-hour notice is greatly appreciated.
Questions regarding the program should be directed to Bonnie Stratton at (608) 254-7180, ext. 333 or [email protected].
