Return to Learn Action Plan for 2020-21
Draft 7/7/2020 1
During the week of June 22-26, multiple subcommittees comprising the Mingus Union High School Reopening Taskforce developed
action plans in response to the considerations below, published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on May 19.
These action plans took into account the ADE Roadmap for Reopening Schools and recommended strategies therein.
The primary goal of our action planning is to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our school and community at large while we offer the
best academic and instructional plan which is feasible. Contingency planning involves distance learning as an alternative to in-person
instruction if so required due to district-level decision-making or state mandates.
MUHSD has begun and will continue to implement these action plans with the owners listed below being responsible for oversight and
follow-up.
Ownership and Support: one or more persons must be responsible and accountable for tracing the progress, keeping team informed, ensuring timely action steps are occurring and adjusting the actions. Will support the person/team responsible for implementation/completion of the action steps. This can be multiple people. The key is that they're not responsible for the action or outcome.
Responsibility: the person or team responsible for implementation/completion of the action steps.
Milestone date: date for checking progress and status of implementation.
Completion date: date the action step has been completed/fully implemented (may be ongoing once implemented).

asymptomatic and additional precautions are implemented to protect them and the community. • Pre-Screen: Employers should measure the employee’s temperature and assess symptoms prior to them starting work. Ideally, temperature checks should happen before the individual enters the facility. • Regular Monitoring: If the employee doesn’t have a temperature or symptoms, they should self-monitor under the supervision of their employer’s occupational health program. • Wear a Mask: The employee should always wear a face mask while in the workplace for 14 days after last exposure. Employers can issue facemasks or can approve employees’ supplied cloth face coverings in the event of shortages. • Social Distance: The employee should maintain

6 feet and practice social distancing as work duties permit in the workplace. • Disinfect and Clean work spaces: Clean and disinfect all areas such as offices, bathrooms, common areas, shared electronic equipment routinely. If the employee becomes sick during the day, they should be sent home immediately. Surfaces in their workspace should be cleaned and disinfected. Information on persons who had contact with the ill employee during the time the employee had symptoms and 2 days prior to symptoms should be compiled. Others at the facility with close contact within 6 feet of the employee during this time would be considered exposed. Students with a household member with COVID-19 should remain home for 14 days.

passengers to remain in parent vehicles at the stop, or will you allow students to stand together while still observing social distancing guidelines? Consider posting clearly visible signage on the outside of buses that communicates to parents that students exhibiting symptoms should not enter the bus
Transportation is the 2nd point on the screening continuum
Face covering is a requirement to board the bus. Transportation will notify parents of violations, next level will be Allen. Online option will be recommended to students who do not comply. A bus driver or aide, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), should visually check each student prior to the student loading on the bus. If a student exhibits visible symptoms,2 the district should consider taking the following steps:
Mike Westcott
Transportation At commencement of bus routes
Return to Learn Action Plan for 2020-21
Draft 7/7/2020 17
If the parent is at the bus stop, have the student return to their parent.
If the parent is not at the bus stop, provide the student with a mask if they do not have one already and—if possible—ensure that the student is socially distanced
From ADHS/LHS meeting notes: The most difficult screening point would be transportation; not sure transportation staff should be doing this screening. Option would be to have a sign on the school bus to think about whether your child has symptoms. Many schools may have masking policies. In an enclosed bus, masking is essential. Bus drivers can make sure the children are wearing masks and encourage behavior on the bus that doesn’t promote transmission of

disease. There are still important parts of transmission mitigation that can be put on bus drivers.
Promote self-transport by students/parents
Obtain family survey data re: numbers who may self-transport and impact on bus routes/ridership
Mike Westcott Transportation 8/1/20
When testing or training is scheduled, staff should set expectations for participants.
