Thank you for your positive feedback over Homecoming. Yes! This campus looks fantastic! There are still some areas not often visited by our Alumni that are frequented daily by our fabulous students that need to be finished-- especially our classrooms! We have seven and a half rooms to go. Here is a breakdown of the costs for each classroom:

n Replace Flooring $7100 per classroom n Replace Blinds $3000 per classroom n Furnishing/Storage $ 650 per classroom n Prep & Paint $2500 per classroom n Interactive Tech $6500 per classroom

We need to pull together and contribute to finalize the classrooms! Please help us reach our goal of completing this project by the end of school year.

So simple

InspiredAlumni Weekend was such a lovely time! I enjoyed catching up and hearing your stories about

your journey through WWVA. Thank you for coming home for a visit. It’s cooling off here in Col-lege Place. Fall, which was gorgeous and temperate this year, is fading. Our resident squirrels

scolding the students who dare to sit under the oak tree out front have completed their work of stashing acorns. Winter is here, inspiring us to count our many blessings.

Since you were on campus the school year has flown by. Students finished their first quarter academic conferences where they hashed over their grades to see what, if anything, they need to

do to improve before the end of the semester. Soccer and Volleyball seasons finished strong, with our Volleyball team seeding second and going to State….GO KNIGHTS! Winter

banquet is around the corner and the Drama students presented a fabulous version of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night in the Gesa Powerhouse Theater. I was inspired during

Student-Led fall week of prayer. It is always rewarding to hear what students have to say about life experiences and how God mingles in and around all of them.

We have always had wonderful students and you are one of them.

Our students inspire us each day to focus on creating a supportive, fun and loving atmosphere in which they can work and learn. We can only

lean on God to help us accomplish that goal. Without Him shining through us, staying positive and welcoming would be impossible.

And we are certain that God invented fun! The ability to speak openly, without bracing for ridicule, about His love

for us is priceless—and sometimes is only understood after graduation and the reality of the world becomes known

to us. The journey through four years at WWVA is an amazing package of life lessons, book lessons,

music lessons, collaborative lessons, interpersonal skills lessons that we hope are made easier

with a foundation in Jesus. As we head into the holiday season, we think of you and remember

you in our thoughts and prayers and we ask that you do the same for our campus.

Blessings,

For the cost of a few hot drinks a month, you can give a student the gift of a warm and outstanding education in an increasingly cold world.wwva.org > donate

I am so impressed with how everything looks!

If I lived locally I would be proudto send my kids to WWVA!

There is such a positive energy on campus this year!

I don’t think I’ve had a haystack since 1983!

If you didn’t make it to Homecoming you sure missed a lot of good fun! What a fabulous weekend! Friday evening we were honored to welcome the fifty year class of 1968 along with earlier graduating classes to the Golden Alumni Reception. The stories shared over hors d’oeuvres were indeed pure gold.

Sabbath morning we gathered over hot drinks and cinnamon rolls from Rogers Bakery. The spoken word was presented by Bryson Bechtel, Class of 2008. His words touched many and we received requests for a record-ing. Sadly, we do not have the technology to be able to record with quality. Perhaps In the near future we can find a way to fund that! (NOT subtle I know…)

Ben Gish and the WWVA Orchestra were showcased this year in celebra-tion of his 25 amazing years at WWVA! We are so grateful for his student mentoring, his commitment to excellence and his love of music. If you would like to drop a note of thanks to Mr. Gish, please send it to the academy!

Honor class photos went by in a FLASH although it may not have felt like it for the last group—Thank you so much for your patience. Thank you to our photographer Brian Hernandez 1997 for blessing us with your creative gifts. If you would like a copy of your class photo, visit wwva.org/alumni for the link to Brian’s website.

The Alumni Office provided that good-old-academy-stand-by — haystacks — for lunch. It was fun to remember the flavor of our high school years in the company of our classmates. The Alumni vs. Varsity Basketball and Volleyball games were electrifying even with half of our electricity blown by a random transformer outage. And now the scores: WWVA Girl’s volleyball and basketball teams won and men’s Alumni bas-ketball won. So that’s WWVA 2, Alumni 1.

Thank you for reconnecting and sharing how much WWVA contributed to your life. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! See you next year!
