Green stuff (high in nitrogen) the first active ingredient in good compost, activates the heating process in your compost. Perfect heat-generating materials include: young weeds, grass cuttings,fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds and tea leaves, vegetable plant remains, plants.

Brown stuff (high in carbon) second active ingredient serves as the fiber for compost. Brown stuff includes fall (autumn) leaves; dead plants and weeds; sawdust; cardboard & cardboard tubes old flowers old straw and hay; and small animal bedding.

It is possible to compost without air (anaerobically), but the process employs a different, less efficient bacteria. The pile should be about as damp as a wrung out sponge. Correct blends of compost rely on the moisture that comes in with "green" items. A lid on the compost bin will help to keep moisture in.

Turn your pile regularly, once or twice every week. Small amounts of compost can be produced in a short time period(21- 31 days) with frequent mixing of the correct green /brown blend. Turning the pile encourages the growth of the right kind of bacteria and makes for a nice, sweet-smelling pile that will decompose faster.

The user loads both green and brown material into the upper compost bucket. Kitchen and yard scraps are used. Suction fit lid insures that moisture and heat are contained maintaining an optimal bacterial growth environment.

Photovoltaic cells capture the energy in sunlight. Energy is stored in a battery until enough is collected to make one full rotation. The unit rotates once or twice a week.

Material that has turned to soil and is fine enough will travel through the compost filter and down into the lower body collection area. The removable door allows shovel access to soil.

The inner steel compost aeration filter helps keep oxygen in the mix for faster decomposition. It also breaks up the compost as it is turned. preventing the compost turning into a ball and just sliding back and forth when tumbled.

Curved photovoltaic surfaces are not optimal power generation but in this application only a small amount of energy is need to be collected to make one full rotation
