President Ed Taschner wel-comed members and guests to the Holiday Luncheon on De-cember 9. Members, spouses and friends attended a fine meal at the El Zariba Shrine Temple. See photos on page 5 and at the webside
We have observed a steady de-cline in attendance at the Holi-day Luncheon and thus are asking our local members to participate in a survey. We hope this survey will allow our event planning to better meet the needs of our members.
The questions are:
Should the Club continue with the Holiday Luncheon ? Yes or No
If Yes, where would you pre-fer event to be held?
What is a reasonable price range for this event?
If No above, do you have any suggestions?
Please respond to these and with any additional comments to – Diane Bennett at:
480-994-5243 or [email protected]

The Club thanks you for providing feedback. We will publish the results in the news-letter.
As part of our giving back to the community, we always ‘adopt’ two families with 3 children each to be the recipi-ents of donated food and gifts. Families are selected through Vista del Camino.
At the conclusion of the lunch-eon, centerpieces and door prizes are given away. Cen-terpieces were won by num-bers 3 and 1 (has to do with some tables having 8 and some having 6). Door prizes were won by Ray Grice, Jim Laird, Sharon Gooney, Eloise StGermain, Hank Tom and Di-ane Rencenberger
The speaker at the January meeting will be Ryan Reeves, General Manager, Lux Air Jet Centers Goodyear. His presen-tation last January on the histo-ry of the Goodyear Airport was outstanding. This time he will be discussing the History of Aviation in the UK.
This month’s charitable dona-tion went to Vista Del Camino. 50/50 winners were George Wolfmeyer and Al Finklestein. Club guidelines dictate that we support local charities exclusively. A list of the charities from which the board chooses donations monthly is posted on the web-site. If you have a favorite charity you would like the club to consider for donations, please bring it to our attention.
President’s Column
There’s excitement revolving around the direction our Scholarship Program is taking. With the Leadership of Dawn Orgill from the HRC and our own Frank Holman, I believe we will soon be making a sig-nificant breakthrough in terms of the value we provide our students in the future. It’s too early to provide details, but stay tuned. These guys are moving us into the big leagues and our grandchildren will be the beneficiaries of that.
I know it’s the way of life, but I still have a heavy heart think-ing of the passing of Ed Gammill, our Historian and past Treasurer. This was a man everyone respected and loved. I knew him as a dedi-cated, interesting, and caring individual.
Ed was a pillar of the club and a near charter member. He had a passion for flying that moved him to learn how to fly before he could even drive. That pas-sion took him into WWII as a member of the 43
rd Bomb
Squadron in the South Pacific. He was so passionate about his experiences during WWII, that he attended every reunion held since 1983. He even presented talks about his WWII experi-ences to our membership from time to time.
After the war, Ed graduated from the University of Arkan-sas with a Mechanical Engi-neer’s degree. He then hired on with Garrett AiResearch in 1953 and followed Garrett’s expansion into Phoenix in 1955. He retired from Garrett
(then AlliedSignal) after 35 years in 1988.
Ed leaves behind a legacy for us of very detailed records that no one could recreate. Our hearts are with his family … sons, Powell Edward (Eddie) and Pat and daughter, Jennifer.
Thank you, Ed … for enrich-ing all of us who knew you.
Warm regards, Ed Taschner
Have you moved? If so pro-vide your new address to Stu Mitnik in order to continue to get this terrific newsletter et. al.
We welcome any member who wishes to speak to the meeting on a topic of general interest. To do so, please contact any Board Member immediately prior to the start of the meet-ing.
Please remember to wear your badge to meetings and func-tions. It sure helps in remem-bering names. If you have lost your badge, we can make you a new one for a $2.00 charge.
Reminder - we no longer charge dues for the spouse of couples who are both retirees from AiResearch/ Garrett/ Al-liedSignal/ Honeywell.
Our monthly meetings are held at the Scottsdale Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef, (just north of Mc-Dowell). The meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month, September - May, except for December – our Holiday Luncheon. Our social hour begins at 1:00
3
pm, club business is conduct-ed at 1:45 pm, the presenta-tion starts at 2:00 pm and adjournment is at 3:00 pm.
Though Board meetings are no longer being held prior to the regular meeting, we do wel-come your input. Please con-tact any board member or send the editor any items that may be of interest to our members.
HELP EACH OTHER
FIX-IT GUYS
Sponsored by Honeywell, Gar-rett and Sperry Retirees Clubs
In the last Newsletter we noti-fied our Honeywell/Garrett re-tirees group members that we have a Fix-It Guy organization established for the purpose of providing help to retirees or surviving spouses by fixing things around the house that you are not able to accomplish. This will hopefully keep the job from being a “budget bust-er”.
The East Valley Fix-It Guys group is patterned after the Fix-it Guys group previously established by the Honey-well/Sperry retirees Club.
There are two numbers you can call for help:
East Valley Fix It Guys - 480-463-6572 or
Fix-It Guys - 602-765-4466
Either will put you in touch with the appropriate group.
Thanks,
Nick Hughes

Club Rosters
Starting next year, we will no longer be providing rosters for pickup at the November Meet-ing. If you desire a roster, it will be mailed to you. Too many of you who requested pickup have not and hauling the boxes of rosters to the meeting has become a burden. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 2015 Activity Calendar Hon-eywell Retirees of Arizona (Honeywell North):
