RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Reticulose reduces viral load in mv infection

After daily treatment with the peptide nucleic acid agent reticulose* on alternate weeks for a 60-day period, 21 patients with HIV infection had an average 21 % decrease in HIV viral load from baseline and a mean 37% increase in CD4+ count from baseline, according to the preliminary results of a study conducted in Barbados.

72% of reticulose recipients maintained or increased their bodyweight, compared with 30% of controls.

No adverse effects, and 'zero toxicity' were associated with reticulose treatment. - PR Newswire, http://www.newspage.com; 11 Dec 1996 * Advanced Wrol Research; in clinical trWJs for HIV infection
