Retention Planning Package
BENEFITS & DELIVERABLES
Partnering with TFA to create an institution-wide student retention plan enables institutions to:
Generate a data-driven student success roadmap with identified at-risk populations;
Develop measureable goals associated with each population;
Determine strategies to achieve the goals; and
Receive a template for action plans to support implementation of the prioritized strategies.
Through their partnership with TFA, institutions receive:
A customized Retention Data Dashboard template that is completed collaboratively between TFA
and your Office for Institutional Research;
A Retention Planning Workbook, including sets of exercises and recorded institutional data;
A two-year Retention Plan detailing target populations, baseline data, measurable goals, strategies,
and a set of suggested next steps.
FIRST ON-CAMPUS VISIT: DATA GATHERING (1 DAY)
Activities and goals of the initial visit:
Meet with identified stakeholders to:
Discuss retention issues and concerns,
Identify student success leaders, and
Become acquainted with retention leaders
Prepare for the Retention Planning Retreat
Determine data needs,
Select participants, and
Consider logistics

TFA provides specific guidelines and recommendations for Retreat participants, location, and logistics, as well as a
custom workbook with your retention data and exercises to be used by participants.
