Oversight and circuit design of switching power supply, including: PCB, documentation, logic revision, reliability, component derating, safety, production and EMI / EMC. Design responsibilities include LiFePO4 Battery Pack Fuel Gauge using bq78PL116 and bq3060, which also included small switching power supplies. Additionally: management of ~1KW power supply designs.

Circuit Design, schematic entry (Eagle). PWB, PCB, CAD was performed. Reliability, component derating, safety, communication (I2C), and EMI were involved in this design. ABB: (Jun2010 – Apr2011, Alamo, TN) Sr. Design Engineer (Consultant)Consultant, Product Design included data acquisition using current sensors, transmission of current readings to controller PWB for a Power Switching Control System. My responsibilities on this program included design of RS-485 differential transmission and fiber optic system, circuit design and PWB layout. This included review and oversight of all system design decisions, including cable design. Contained three phase current detection device. This included long term reliability, safety and EMI.

Responsibilities: analog and digital circuit redesign, including reliability, communications (RS-232), safety, EMI, I/O, discrete digital / analog design to production readiness. Legacy Digital discrete logic brought up to date, replacing obsolete components. Used LTSpice for circuit simulation. Legacy logic families supported and replaced, included TTL, LSTTL, CD4000, 74HC. PADs: schematic entry and PWB / PCB layout. CPU Technologies included 3 Freescale Coldfire and two 6805 for legacy product compatibility purposes. Design verification.

LION BMS Fuel Gauge design using optical switching to provide near zero discharge current, extending battery shelf life. Design based on TI MSP430 W/I2C. Wrote Embedded C firmware. Used LTSpice. Stress analysis to Mil-Std-1547 Component Derating Guidelines. Space design component selection.

Opto Technology, Inc: (Sep2008 – Mar2009, Off-Site) Sr. Design Engineer (Consultant)Microcontroller based High Powered LED Driver / Power Supply design using PIC2431 including Embedded C firmware. Intersema MS5541C uC Emulation sensor project was completed. Consulted with NASA on a Lithium Iron Phosphate project.
