Servant-‐Leader
Recruiter
Coach
“TODAY I GAVE ALL I HAD; WHAT I KEPT I LOST FOREVER.”
WHY I COACH
Coaching appeals to me because it is the work of a servant. In a world where we all want to be kings, coaches sQll serve humanity by grooming the youth and no other occupaQon seems more soul saQsfying than coaching. It allows me to fulfill my purpose in life, which is ulQmately just to help people and that is why I coach.
My first year was full of surprises as I imagine every first-‐year collegiate coach’s first year to be. The first surprise was the realizaQon that it is extremely hard to win games. The team with talent that plays the hardest, prepares well, and executes usually will be the most successful team. Teaching young people the power of hard work, preparaQon, and execuQon will allow them to be a success in all facets of life. Those are a few humane characterisQcs that have slowly diminished over the years, but they are so essenQal to winning games as a college athlete, and a quality life as an adult. ImplemenQng these concepts into the lives of young people is one reason I chose to coach.
I have also encountered and interacted with the new generaQon of talent that will be filling collegiate basketball rosters for the next few decades. In my Qme as a college-‐student and youth I made many mistakes that could’ve ruined my life. The scary thing about today is the opportunity to make a life-‐changing mistake gets easier by the day. My ulQmate goal in life even beyond coaching is to share my experiences in life so that others are able to avoid some mistakes and potenQally become more successful than myself.
There are people who have been involved in my life who have taught me life lessons that made it possible for me to be where I am today. I have called most of these individuals “Coach” throughout my life. I played sports my enQre life, and as a kid from urban Dallas, I credit sports and my coaches for the success I am having today. The chance to impact young people’s life in the way my coaches impacted my life is the one thing that drives me most to coach.

During my time at Texas A&M I had the opportunity to work numerous skill, team, and elite camps. I used these 3 years as an opportunity to learn how quality camps are conducted and directed. I spent two years as a coach during camp season at Texas A&M and one year as a Camp Intern. As the intern I learned about the administration side of camp. I was recently in the process of orchestrating a summer camp for the community of Urbana, OH prior to my departure and have everything needed to put a camp on today.

• I can handle all of the miscellaneous task thatrequire coaches to be away from homedistracQon free.
• Ability to handle miscellaneous task wasenhanced during my Qme spent in a corporateoffice as an intern.
