Proven communication, tutoring and presenting experience. Time management, administration and organization skills from holding one, and sometimes two, part time jobs while enrolled full time at university. Relevant Skills and Knowledge Combinatorial and classical game theory, discrete mathematics, analytical thinking and problem solving skills, differential equations, optimization and linear programming, linear algebra, graph theory, applied mathematics (differential geometry and calculus) and presenting and communication skills. Data Visualization: Problems in Geometry, Curves and Surfaces, Linear Algebra and Graph Theory. All of these have an element of visualizing a structure based on theorems, a set of axioms, or a set of equations. Graph Theory also involves constructing a proof based on a diagram; drawing a picture to make sense of a problem. Predictive Modeling: Experience in statistical analysis based on hypothesis tests, which involves determining the significance of results. Courses in Classic and Combinatorial Game Theory have helped Emma to use basic probability and strategies to determine solutions to a problem. Information Delivery, Data Modeling: In a few courses Emma has presented a new topic to the class. Based on the assumption that the material was foreign, Emma had to construct a detailed, but simple, introduction, equation, and answer or proof to the statement. Emma has basic knowledge of optimization and linear programming, including maximizing or minimizing a real function. ETL (data loading): Theory of Numbers, Intro to Analysis, and Complex Variables has given Emma experience in basic logical thinking in order to create a proof. Some problems need visualization, such as a graph to prove them correct, while others need equations. A proof can often need two different approaches of analysis, to further support the information presented.

SummaryA problem solver and accomplished pattern seeker with a strong base in mathematics, and theory and statistics. Proven communication, tutoring and presenting experience. Time management, administration and organization skills from holding one, and sometimes two, part time jobs while enrolled full time at university.

Relevant Skills and KnowledgeCombinatorial and classical game theory, discrete mathematics, analytical thinking and problem solving skills, differential equations, optimization and linear programming, linear algebra, graph theory, applied mathematics (differential geometry and calculus) and presenting and communication skills.

Education

BSc Mathematics, Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS

Experience

Customer and sales experience: Since the age of fifteen, Emma has held various customer service and associate sales roles at shops such as The Freak Lunch Box, clubs such as Ashburn Private Golf Club, restaurants such as Jack Astor’s and bars such as HFX Sports Bar.

This experience has taught her to be open minded in dealing with customers and customers with legitimate and often spurious complaints, and to always approach a job with a smile and confidence.

Organization and work balancing experience: Many times throughout her education, Emma has held more than one part time job thereby driving experience in balancing workload and demanding strong organization skills to ensure success in each job.

This experience has taught her how to visualize and complete task lists, communication for scheduling and time management conflicts, prioritization for completing tasks efficiently, and problem solving.

Administration and communication experience: For two summers Emma worked in an administrative role at the large Canadian information technology firm CGI, working with senior executives and staff in all departments.

This experience has taught her communication skills, fluency in translating information to a non-technical team, data entry, filing and understanding needs of employers and ensuring the job gets done.
