Results of Survey on Ulsan’sAging Readiness
1. Background and necessity of survey
As policy services and the creation of an environment for the elderly to live without inconvenience is becoming the standard of city life quality improve-ment, local governments are showing interest in this matter against the back-drop of aging population and urbanization all around the world.
Ulsan is expected to become an aged society in 2024 and it is quickly becom-ing super-aged, therefore, establishing a countermeasure for this is urgently needed. In addition, the rate of baby boomers in Ulsan is the second highest among metropolitan cities, making it necessary to establish a plan for their sta-ble settlement in a local communities after retirement.
Future aging policies are expected to center on the concept of “aging in com-munity,” therefore, it is important to foster a local community with an appro-priate physical and social residential environment for all stages of life.
2. Purpose of Survey
The purpose of this survey is to gather fundamental data in order for Ulsan to cope with aging effectively by spreading awareness regarding the need to foster an Age-friendly City and researching the current state of aging readiness to de-velop Ulsan’s strategy
