Relevance to the target audience

We decided to set our film during the time of the London riots to add some relevance to our target audience.

including the riots also helps us show the contrast between the upper class and lower class characters in our film by showing what the riots mean to them as individuals.

The subject of the riot will allow the audience to really relate to the film as a lot of them were around when the London riots was a big topic the news.

Plot

The two main characters have almost opposite personalities, one is very smart but is not very popular, the other is not very smart at all but it considered cool and popular. They are in the same class at school and have never spoken before. It soon becomes obvious that they both have what each other wants, popularity and good results. They decide to help each other with their problems which results in awkward and funny situations. All is going well until the nights of the riots come along and the two of them get caught up in some trouble.

The films message will be based around what is more important being popular or being a good person.

this will be shown by the clash of the two main characters personalities and backgrounds.

We think this is an important message to show young teenagers as popularity and behaviour becomes a common issue for teenagers going into secondary school.

The films message

What are the plots of similar films or books

The two main characters in 21 jump street have almost opposite personalities, because of this they can help each other get into the police force. These characters are similar to the two main characters in our film because of their differences. I watched this film to see how they use the contrast in characters to make the film funny, this was to help me build my own two characters.

Both of these films are set in London like mine, Kidult hood addresses a lot of problems a teenager in London could face while growing up, I researched this film to see what teenage problems it addressed which helped me build up the plot of my own film. Anuvahood is a teen comedy set in London, the stereotype of a wannabe “badman” makes the main character funny, this is similar to one of the characters we have, I researched this film to help build a stronger character for my own film.

CharactersThe two main characters are almost exact opposites, the contrast in their

personalities creates a lot of comedy opportunities.

I have researched other films to see if I could find similar characters and there was a couple such as 21 jump street and Joey and Chandler from Friends.

Location

Finding appropriate locations didn’t involve much research as I already had some ideas of places in the area such as QPCS and Queens park, although for houses I used street view with Google maps to find some good locations.

Genre

When we asked a group of year 8 students what their favourite genres was the two most popular answers were horror and comedy.

We decided for our genre to be a comedy drama aimed at teenagers.
