The tests were performed in a Skidmore Wilhelm bolt tension calibrator, calibration date of 10/10/2007. A series of four (4) tests were conducted under various conditions, tensioning the bolt until the orange silicon was exposed in more than 50% or all the exit points. The bolt head and squirt type DTI washers were placed over a piece of structural steel with standard clearance hole on top of the M24 Skidmore faceplate, to more closely simulate use on a structural connection in the field. In all tests the bolt head was held in place and the nut was turned to tighten. Test #1: Performed at room temperature 23 C (74 F): Result: The orange silicone was visible at 34 Kips (151 kN) as seen in the two pictures above.
