The findings From the survey, I found that both boys and girls under 16 mostly liked comedies, boys chose thrillers and adventure movies as their second preference whereas girls chose romance but they also enjoy watching action movies. 16-18 year olds liked Action and adventure, thrillers and horrors. People in 19-21 age group like thrillers, action, science-fiction, comedy and romance. People over 30 show similar result to those lying in 19-21 age group.

The ‘thriller’ genre overlaps with other genres like action and adventure, horror and science fiction and these have been aimed mostly at male audiences, from early teens to mid-30s. And this is basically what I found through my survey. Also it is mostly the males that go for such movies while females prefer dramas, romance and comedy. However, it can be stated that individual differences do come across and what I’ve found from doing this questionnaire might not really be generalized.

We have decided to target our thriller movie to the audience between 15-26 years old. From our primary research, we found they usually tend to watch those movies that have been given the age certificate of 15 to 18. They all enjoy twists and cliffhangers in the story and they said they expect ‘suspense/enigma, excitement, fast paced action, shifting and

dramatic plots, and nerve wracking experience’ from thriller movies. According to them, it is necessary for thrillers to have ‘a good story, surprises, intense scenes, complexity, quick pace and quality acting’.

From this research, we have considered to use some fast-paced editing in our production and base it on some enigmatic storyline which would leave the viewers wanting to watch and know more. They said they prefer psychological thrillers because they cause curiosity but they also like action thrillers so because of this response, we thought of combining both of those sub-genres. The participants said they usually watch the movies online so we have decided to also upload our production on YouTube so that people from all over the world have access to it.
