2007WALKING IN FAITH

THE TIMELINE

I believe the best description of Frontline’s success is found in 1 Corinthians 3:5: to each as the Lord gave an assignment and 3:7: so it’s not the one who plants or the one who waters who is anything, but God is the one who causes growth.

— JON HICKS, BOARD PRESIDENT, FRONTLINE FOUNDATIONS

“It’s always been a family thing. It’s been my family’s support that not only enabled me to start Frontline, but their dedication that also keeps me going.

These past 10 years have been such an enormous honor as we’ve seen many lives turned around. There have been weddings held and babies born that could have very easily never happened without the amazing Front-linestaffandmanyfaithfuldonors.I’mconfidentthatwe have saved lives.”

— AMBER HENSELL-HICKS, FRONTLINE FOUNDER

“I was fresh out of college whenwefirststartedFrontline. A decade later I never cease to be amazed by the artistic and musical talent of our clients. I’m always inspired to see how their art can bring such a unique perspective to the therapeutic process. It’s more than just what happens in the program... it extends to healing for their families and our communities.”

— ALLEN GRECULA, FRONTLINE DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL SERVICES

ARMING COMMUNITIES OF FAITH

2010“When I walked through the doors at

Frontline, I was pretty much homeless. I went from house to house and boyfriend toboyfriend.Itwasnoquickfixforme… it took years to rebuild my life. But today, I’m a faculty member at a local college. I tell everyone that I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the recovery tools I’ve learned at Frontline.”

WHY I SERVE AT FRONTLINE

“As a criminal defense attorney I continue to see again and againthedamagingeffectsofsubstance abuse and addiction in our community. The reason I serve at Frontline is because I have a teenage son and two young children and I never want them to be harmed by this problem. It’s only if we work together as a community that we can address this community issue.”

“I would say the greatest thing about recovery is not having to live a lie anymore. I was addicted to opiates. I was court ordered to attend treatment, but it was Frontline’s recoveryprogramsandage-specifictreatmentthat got me interested. It was nice to see that there were others doing well with sobriety. Now I can have honest relationships.”

— JASON, 24

STRENGTHENING THE FAMILY• Family Support Group launches to

educate the family about addiction and its impact, introduce new communication skills, establish appropriate boundaries, and ultimately rebuild healthy family relationships.

2013FRONTLINE’S EXPANSION• Frontline expands peer-specific

treatment services to include the adult age group of 29-38.

• The Conduit Recovery Community Center opens, giving Frontline clients a dedicated space to feel safe, socialize, and encourage others towards long-term recovery.

• Through the efforts of Keith & Terri Sharpe, Life Recovery Group launches, focusing on 12-Step principles with a biblical focus.

“I began to see Chrissy spiral, her grades began to slip, she lost interest in a lot of things that made her happy. She was never the same after[hersister]died, noneofuswere.Ifthere was one thing I could change, I would go back and I would get us counseling so fast. But at the time, I just didn’t think anybody could help. If this is your child and they don’t want help, get yourself help. Get some understanding because it’s a hard thing to understand. Learn everything you can learn about the disease of addiction.” TO WATCH THE FULL STORY, GO TO THEARTISTICRECOVERY.COM/JUDYREALES

“I could give you a list of things where I was terribly wrong and a list of things that I’m still paying for in my life. But this opportunity wehavewithTheSaltExchange…allthatgetspushed aside. Even if it’s only for two hours. It’s the spark that’s made our music the way it is.”

— JESSE

“The Salt Exchange taught me that you don’t have to wallow in despair. You can actually use your abilities in places in the community. You’re not always going to be shunned everywhere you go.”

IT MATTERS TO ME“Theissueofsubstanceabuseandaddictionissignificantly

underestimated. I use the metaphor of an iceberg. The things you read about in the papers are the 1% of the iceberg that sticksabovethewater…It’sthe99%oftheicebergthat’sbelow the water that is the problem.

Weneedpeopletobeinvolvedtodealwiththe99%of the iceberg. So what are we going to do about it?”

“I came to Frontline as a client at the age of 27. For 13 years I was at a place truly without hope. I was consuming around $800 worth of drugs a week. My friends and family told me I was either going to die or go to prison. Fortunately, a doctor recommended me to Frontline.

Today, I’ve been sober for seven years. I’m happily married with two children for over six years. I’m a homeowner and I manage my own business. My life, along with the countless others Frontline has changed, is a testament to the power of treatment and recovery.” — CARLOS, 34
