RESPECTING THE

WOMEN IN OUR LIVES

“It is a fundamental reality that the woman possesses

something precious and special as a woman;

and that is why the world needs chivalry,

why the man owes the woman chivalry,

as an acknowledgment of this power that women have

that must be honored and respected.”

man; especially courage, honor, justice, and a

readiness to help those in need

• Courteous behavior, especially towards women

CHIVALRY

• Honor- admiration and respect

• Respect- to consider worthy of high regard, esteem

HONOR AND

RESPECT

• You young men need to know that you can hardly achieve your

highest potential without the influence of good women,

particularly your mothers, and eventually your wives.

• You must learn now to show respect and gratitude

• Thank her and express your love for her

• The influence of your mother will bless you throughout life

• Use language that uplifts, encourages, and compliments

• Do not insult them, or put them down; even in joking

• Speak kindly and positively about women so that you can fulfill

the Lord’s commandment to love one another.

BE VIRTUOUS IN WORD & DEED

• Young men should always be considerate of their mothers and

sisters—helping, sharing, cooperating, and seeking

opportunities to show love and appreciation for them.

• We must also respect all women- not only those in our

immediate families but all the wonderful women in our lives.

• As daughters of God, their potential is divine.

• Without them, life would be impossible.

All Women should be treated with respect,

because in God’s eyes we are all the same,

and that is all that really matters.

God made all of us in his own image,

so we are all equal in his eyes.

• Who are the women in your life whom you love and respect?

• How have they blessed your life?

• How can/do you show respect for them?

• Think of your favorite movies, songs, or TV shows.

• How do they represent respect for women?

• What message do they inspire?

ignored, or disrespected?

• Why have you treated them this way?

• What can you do to show them the respect

and honor that they deserve?

• In preparation for mothers day this

Sunday, discuss some ways that you can

honor your own mothers.

MOTHERS DAY

Jesus set the perfect example of what it means to honor your

Mother! He gave her no flowers… no greeting card… no meal at her

favorite restaurant… he gave her no jewelry…

He gave her something far better!

He gave her attention and affection:

“Though beaten and abused, with blood running down his body…

Struggling for every breath… Jesus cleared his throat and spoke TO

and ABOUT his mother.”

JESUS AND HIS MOTHER

In recognition of Mother’s Day this Sunday

and in order to celebrate and honor Mary, the

mother of Jesus, and Queen of Heaven and

Earth, we will hold a May Crowning

Ceremony tomorrow morning as part of our

daily morning prayer.

Student ministers will preform the crowning,

and the banner of Mary will remain present

with us in the resource center throughout the

month of May as a reminder of all the women

in our lives who nurture and care for us.

MAY CROWNING

We will close with a prayer, but before we do, let us call to

mind the women in our lives who have loved us and cared for

us unconditionally, be they our mothers, grandmothers, sisters,

teachers, aunts, cousins, or friends….

Hail Mary, full of grace.

Our Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women,

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners,

now and at the hour of our death.
