Before you startDividethespaceintotwo,readytoplaydodgeball!

What to doGet into four groups. Choose two groupstobetheplayers.Eachteam

of players go to a different side of the dividedspaceandgetintopositiontoplaydodgeball.

Your leader is your referee and will tell you the rules:

a. Theaimistohittheotherteamwiththeballsotheybecomepartofyourteam.

b. Theteamwiththemostpeopleattheend wins.

c. Only hit people with the ball below the head.

d. Stayinyourteam’shalf.e. The ball can only bounce once before

hittingsomeone.f. Stand still when you’re holding the

ball.

The other two groups stand at the sides as‘observers’.Yourjobistocheertheteamsonandwatchthegame.Payparticularattentiontothereferee,whois,unfortunately,verylazy!

Teamsready?Startyourfive-minutegameofdodgeball!Duringthe

game,yourrefereewilldonothingandpay no attention. If you ask her anything ortrytopointoutrulebreaking,she’lljustshrug or walk away…

Whatshouldtherefereedoifplayersbreakrules?Comeupwith

somepenalties–perhapsa30secondtimeoutoraplayerisbannedfromthrowingtheballforoneminute.

Now,swapthegroupsover,sotheobserversaretheplayers,and

playersaretheobservers.

Playanothergame,onlythistimeyour referee will keep to the

rules and watch for any rule breaking. Observers,payattentiontotherefereeandrememberwhathappensduringthegame.Isthereanythingtherefereemissed?Helpheroutbybeingasecondpair of eyes!
