Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new school year at iMater Elementary. I am very happy to have your child in my first grade class. I look forward to a fun and productive year. I would like to take this time to highlight some important information you will need as we begin this school year.

In order to provide each student with an excellent educational climate, our class will focus on cooperation, respect, and responsibility. Attached you will find this classroom management plan and emergency contact form which I will need you to sign and return to me by Monday, August 26, 2019.

You will be amazed at just how much your child will grow this year! The seeds of reading, writing, and mathematics have already been planted within your child. This year those seeds will grow and blossom. You will see changes in your child’s thinking as he/she becomes familiar with abstract concepts and symbols. The change will be dramatic – just compare a tiny seed, with a full grown flower! That’s the kind of growth you will see this year!

Remember that the loveliest flowers usually have the best gardener – and that’s you! I would like us to work together to assure that your child is learning in the best environment possible. The key to doing this is communication. Bienvenidos al nueve año escolar en iMater Elementary. Estoy muy contenta de tener a su hijo(a) en mi aula de 1er grado. Espero tener un año productivo y lleno de diversion. Quisiera tomar la oportunidad para dejarle saber ciertos puntos de importancia que usted necesitará saber al comienzo de este año escolar.

Para poder proveer a cada estudiante con un ambiente educacional excelente, nuestra clase enfocará en los siguientes puntos de interés: coperación, respeto, y responsabilidad. Adjunto encontrará el plan de administración y el formulario para contacto en caso de emergencia, que usted necesitará firmar y devolver el lunes 26 de agosto del 2019.

Usted se maravillará en lo mucho que su niño(a) se desarrollará durante este año! Las semillas de la lectura, escritura y matemáticas han sido sembradas en su niño(a). Este año esas semillas crecerán y florecerán. Usted verá cambios en los pensamientos de su niño(a) cuando el/ella se familiarize con los conceptos y simbolos abstractos. El cambio será dramático - ¡Simplemente compare una semilla pequeña con una flor ya florecida! Ese será el desarrollo que usted verá este año!

Recuerde que las flores más bellas, son las que por lo regular tienen el mejor jardinero- y ese jardinero, es usted. Yo quisiera que trabajemos juntos para asegurar que su niño(a) esté aprendiendo en el mejor ambiente posible. La clave para lograr esto, está en la comunicación. The following is a list of supplies your child will need for this school year. Your child should have

these supplies in class by Monday, August 26th. Please label your child’s supplies.

3 packs of #2 pencils (Brand: Americas Best)3 reams of white copy paper (Brand: Georgia-Pacific)

1 pack of wide ruled-paper

2 packs of “Hi-Polymer” erasers4 packs of glue sticks

1 pair of scissors2 boxes of 24 crayons NO COLORED PENCILS!

6 unlabeled composition notebooks 1 1-inch 3-ring binder

Headphones 1 folder with pockets

1 pencil pouch, NO PENCIL BOXES!1 pack of play dough*

iMater Student Agenda

The following is a list of items that may be donated for our class use. This also provides an opportunity for parents to complete volunteer hours that are

required by the school (30 volunteer hours per students). I will be issuing hours for the items donated now and throughout the year.

Our Classroom Rules:1. We respect each other by keeping our hands, feet, and objects to

***If a student receives 5 sad grams within a 9- week grading period they will not be allowed to go on the next field trip or will not be allowed to participate in special class activities (parties, SAT reward week, etc.)
