HOSTING A COMMUNITY EVENT TO RAISE FUNDS FOR YOUR WALK TEAM

FUNDRAISING IDEASCornhole Tournament, Karaoke Contest, Pig Roast, CarnivalHalloween Party, Golf/Putt-Putt Tournament, Vendor Party (Thirty One, Jamberry), Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament, Luau

The possibilities are endless!

HOST A RESTAURANT NIGHTRestaurants love to help the community and often do so by hosting a Give Back Night where a portion of the proceeds go back to the cause.

Step 1: During your next visit to a local restaurant, speak to the manager and ask if they would be willing to support JDRF by hosting a Give Back Night.

Step 2: Confirm the date and time for your event. Weeknights work great between 4 and 8!Step 3: Market your event. Share on Facebook and tell everyone you know about why they should support.

Let JDRF help market for you too. Complete the Community Event form found at the link on the bottom and JDRF will share on their Facebook, web page and weekly newsletter.

Step 4: On your Give Back Night, greet all your family and friends at the restaurant and confirm they have all the documentation needed to ensure funds come back from JDRF. Just to be on the safe side, make lots of extra copies!

Step 5: Watch as the donations come pouring in! Don’t forget to thank the Manager for helping JDRF. PRO TIP: Some local restaurants that have supported JDRF in the past with a Give Back Night are Larosas, Buffalo

Wild Wings, Skyline Chili, Chipotle, Moes and Bob Evans. Every location is different and not all restaurants can support.

HOST A FAMILY FRIENDLY FUNDRAISERInvite friends and family over to support JDRF while having a great time!

Step 1: Pick a date, theme and type of fundraising you will do during the event (raffles, split the pot, entrance fee).Step 2: Invite everyone you know. Share on Facebook, Twitter and more! Let JDRF help market too!Step 3: Work with community partners to get raffle items donated. Step 4: Invite a JDRF volunteer to speak at your event. We have tons of advocates who would love to talk about

why donating to JDRF is so important. Step 5: Have fun at your event! No one said it has to be all work and no play!Step 6: Thank you guests for all of their support!PRO TIP: Make it easy for family and friends to donate that day by having a computer set up to make donations or

donation buckets laying around. They know they are there to raise money for T1D so ask them multiple times! Don’t spend the extra money on a venue for your event. Having the event in your backyard works great too!

Community Event Form: tinyurl.com/jdrfevent | JDRF Tax ID: 23-1907729

Hosting a Community Event has never been easier and is an easy way to earn extra donations for your walk team. Don’t worry if you can’t complete your event before Walk Day, donations received after the walk can still be applied to your team total.
