Assistive Technology Professional

A service provider who:– analyzes the needs of individuals with disabilities, – assists in the selection of the appropriate equipment or

services, – and trains the consumer on how to properly use the

specific equipment.

The Professional Standards Board provides oversight of RESNA’s Certification Program.

About the exam

• 200 multiple choice questions

• Certification Fees– Basic exam fee -- $500.00– Retake fee -- $250.00 (within one year)– Re-certification -- $150 for two years

Step 1. Completion of ATP application and submission with payment to RESNA. The application can be downloaded:

• Upon approval, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with your test ID# and instructions on scheduling your exam at a convenient testing center.

The day of your exam• Ensure that your given name (first name) and surname (last name) in My

Credentials matches the given name and surname on the identification you will present at the test center

• To change or cancel your exam appointment you must do so through Prometric no later than midnight on the third day before your scheduled examination. All exam appointments cancelled/rescheduled 30 days or less before the examination date are charged a $50 fee. If you do not receive a new confirmation number from Prometric, contact them immediately to confirm that your appointment has been successfully cancelled/rescheduled

Certification Renewal

Initial certification, earned through the application and exam process is valid for two years.

Recertification Requirements

• Relevant work experience, • Demonstration of ongoing professional development through:

a) Re-take of the examination, or b) Earning continuing education units, orc) Earning academic credit from an academic (higher

education) institution

Both the work experience and the professional development requirements must be satisfied in order to be re-certified.
