Campus Safety Tips Always lock your doors, even if you’re just stepping

out for a moment. Theft only takes seconds.

Don’t allow unknown persons to enter or piggyback into buildings and never prop open exterior doors.

Be sure to keep a record of the model and serial num-bers for all expensive equipment (TV, computers, cell phones etc.)

Keep your car doors locked at all times and either re-move expensive equipment and items or secure them in a locked trunk out of plain view.

Keep cash, credit cards, IDs, etc in secure locations. Do not leave items such as these in unsecured lockers at the Student Recreation Center or Quinn Center.

Be alert for changes on your credit/debit/App card statements due to possible identity theft. Contact ASU Police immediately if you are a victim of theft.

When the fire alarm sounds, immediately exit the resi-dence hall. Be sure to wear shoes and grab a jacket during cold weather.

As an ASU student, you are responsible for understanding and abiding by the Code of Student Conduct. Take a few minutes and review the Code at http://studentconduct.appstate.edu If you have any questions, ask a University Housing staff member or visit the Student Conduct Office.

Tip of the Week

Don’t leave the water running when you are brushing your teeth.

HEAT CONCERNS?

If you have a concern with your heat (being too hot or not hot enough) please make sure to submit a work order by going to http://housing.appstate.edu/ and clicking on the "Submit a Maintenance Request" button. Someone should come by within 48 hours to assist you. If you have an emergency, please get in touch with your residence staff.

WANT TO CHANGE ROOMS?

The Room Change Process for Spring 2011 begins on Janu-ary 18th. Students wishing to move need to contact the Resi-dence Director (RD) of their building to fill out the appropri-ate paperwork and receive instructions.

Campus Precautions Walk with a friend & remain in populated, well-lit ar-

eas.

Walk with a purpose! Always keep your eyes roaming for any potential danger.

When walking on campus, take the safest route, not the fastest.

When ice and snow are on the ground, use extra pre-caution.

If you use a purse or backpack and someone tries to take it from you, let it go. Fighting someone for your purse or backpack can result in injury.

Walk with your ID and keys in your hands. That way you can enter your residence hall or car quickly, and you can also use them for self-defense, if necessary.

Contact ASU police if you are a victim of a crime or need their immediate assistance. The number is 828-262-8000. Program this number into your cell phone.
