1. Title of the Study:
Problems of young doctors in government hospitals of Peshawar.
2. Statement of the Problem:
The research will find out problems faced by young doctors in hospitals of Peshawar city.
Young doctors are facing different problems in hospitals. The issue is obvious from their
everyday strikes for their demands against administration. A report of The Nation newspaper
says” Patients suffer as young doctors continue strike (18 May, 2014 The Nation).” Different
unions like Young Doctors Association (YDA) have also been made in order to raise their
voice for solution of their problems. Even they refused to offer their duties at hospitals until
solution of their problems. The issue has been highlighted in both print and electronic media.
A report from Dawn Newspaper says “The Young Doctors Association of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa on Friday announced to boycott duty in major teaching hospitals and tertiary
healthcare facilities of the province from today (Saturday) against delay in the
implementation of the proposed service structure for them (Dawn, 1 March, 2014).”
Although administration has promised to solve their problems, but still problems emerge
from time to time.
Young doctors have been facing these problems for last many years. Doctors are very
important for well being of society. If they suffer from problems, that will not be able to
serve people. That’s why their problems must be addressed by government and concerned
authorities. For proper treatment of patients and healthy society, satisfaction of doctors is
indispensible. For satisfaction, there must be a problem free environment.
It is very important to know that what are the problems which young doctors are suffering
from, because for solution of a problem, it’s nature is essential to be known. This research
will dig out young doctors’ problems and will provide recommendation for their solution.
3. Objectives of the Study:
What are problems faced by young doctors?
What are the flaws in policies made for young doctors?
To what extent is the performance of young doctors affected due to these problems?

What are the reforms young doctors want to be brought in present policies?
4. Significance of Research:
In this research, the researcher is going to target problems faced by young doctors. Problems
in every field of life disturb the performance of people. Young doctors are facing different
problems which are affecting their performance. Once we diagnose the problems, then it’s
easy to solve them as doctors first diagnose problem, and then propose treatment.
This research will also be helpful in giving recommendations to administration for making
new policies, plans and amend the present ones. The research will also find out
recommendations of respondents (Young Doctors).

8. Expected Benefits:
The research findings will be helpful for young doctors, because through this research the
problems of young doctors will be brought into mainstream and may be solved.
The findings will also be helpful for administration to know about demands and problems
of young doctors and their potential solution.
Once the problems are found out, then it will be easy for administration to devise policies
and plans according to the demands of young doctors. The research will also include
some recommendations given by the respondents.
The research will be helpful for society in the sense that if administration fulfills demands
of young doctors and solve their problems, the young doctors will be sincere in serving
patients which will affect the environment of hospitals.
9. Ethical Issues:
Names of the respondents will not be disclosed.
Personal and questions based on bias will not be asked.
If data is needed to be recorded, it will be done on permission of respondent.
Not a single person, department etc, related to administration or any other area of the
research will be targeted during the interview.
10. Problems and Limitations:
The first problem I may face will be getting list and data of young doctors from hospitals.
As doctors have very busy schedule, therefore, it will be very difficult for me to get their
time for conducting interviews and collecting data.
It will be also very difficult for me to find out every respondent and convenes him/her for
interview, because I have no knowledge of wards and map of the hospitals; therefore, it
will be also very difficult for me to gain access to the right place.
