11stst EVALUATIVE MOMENT ORIENTATIONS EVALUATIVE MOMENT ORIENTATIONS

The 1st evaluative moment is mainly related to the analysis of your former research statement already submitted in Research Foundations. For this purpose, it is required a revision of your research following as a guideline the readings assigned in this evaluative moment (Dörnyei, 2007) and (Fraenkel and Wallen, 2008). Thus, Dörnyei (2007) provides a complete explanation and relation between what a research topic, a research purpose and a research question imply.

The second part of the analysis deals with the research statement components: the where, the what (purpose) and the who (participants). In this evaluative moment, you are asked to go beyond your research interests for a well-structured research statement formulation. Therefore, it must be specified the aspects you want to investigate about:

oIs it the context of your project, an (ESL) or (EFL) classroom or setting?-English as Foreign Language or English as a Second Language. Additional characteristics can be considered to determine the research statement.

oNeeds analysis: How relevant is the development of the proposal? oTo what extend is it innovative?o Are you going beyond previous investigations related the topic you’ve selected?o Are you seeking for new contributions through this project? If so, To whom might it be represent a contribution, in what sense? or how?
