2.1 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Methodology is the important part of research study, which enables the researcher to

form blue print of the research undertake. Research methodology involves the

systematic procedure by which the research starts from the time of initial identification

of the problem to the final conclusions.

This chapter deals with different steps which are undertaken by the investigator for

gathering and organizing the data. It includes the description of research approach,

research design, setting of the study, population, sampling techniques, criteria for

selection of the samples size, limitation, method of data collection, development and

description of the tools.

2.1.1 Research Design

The following research design is used in this project work

“Descriptive cross sectional research design”

Reason

To describe market characteristics or functions

Pre planned and structured design

Sample is small and representative

Analysis is used as input into decision making

Finding is descriptive

It helps me to

Describe the characteristics of relevant groups, such as consumers, sales

people, organizations and market share

Estimate the percentage of units in a specified population exhibiting a certain

behaviour

Determine the perceptions of product characteristics

Determine the degree to which marketing variables are associated

To make specific prediction

2.2 ESTABLISHING GOALS

The first step in any survey is deciding what you want to learn. The goals of the

project determine whom you will survey and what you will ask them. If your goals are

unclear, the results will probably be unclear

2.2.1 Research Objective

My Research objective is the potential market for a new product or service

How IndusInd bank provide financing to used commercial vehicles and analysis of

potential of used C.V. market.

It includes follows

1. To study the requirement of the transporters and Driver in commercial vehicle

market

2. To study how Bank can cater those need or requirement

3. Used (Second hand) commercial vehicle market analysis

4. Competitor analysis , what they are providing

5. Availability of finanace for second hand Commercial vehicle market

6. Selling or buying behaviour & medium in this market

7. How to promote the bank product’s to transporter and driver

2.3 SAMPLE DESIGN

Sampling is a means of selecting a subset of units from a population for the purpose of

collecting information for those units to draw inferences about the population as a

whole.

The sampling that has been used in this study is Non Probability sampling. For

collecting data Convenience Sampling technique has been used.

The research asked survey question to the transporters & driver, I interact with them,

interview them and fill the questions. I used to go specific transport areas in the city ,

like Transport Nagar, Dubbaga mandi , Aishbagh, Faizabad road etc. Because the

population which I choose, is available mostly in these areas.

Page 3: Research Methodology

Due to the unorganized market, and no primary knowledge available, I have to ask

question and fill survey with every transporters and drivers.

2.3.1 Non Probability Sampling

Non-probability sampling is a method of selecting units from a population using a

subjective (i.e., non-random) method. Since non-probability sampling does not require

a complete survey frame, it is a fast, easy and inexpensive way of obtaining data.

2.4 POPULATION

As I have to gather information regarding transporter’s and Driver’s I have to select

population , which represent the transporter , driver , competitor , buying and selling

of CV , mechanic & dealer etc , so therefore I choose only transporter region, where I

can access my representative sample of that population , so I choose , transport nagar ,

Aishabagh like places.

2.4.1 Sample Size

Total no. of respondents 72

Transporter 35

Customer 37

2.5 QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGN

Generally, I have to understand the basic knowledge about the market and its

component. Also to study the need of the market. I have design many questions , from

which I derived 15 questions which help me to get the data and define the problem.

Due to unorganized and higher illiteracy ratio I make the questionnaire in Hindi &

English both. This also make them comfortable with me while discussion.

( the detailed questionnaire is in appendices )

Some key point of questionnaire

Mostly questions are design closed ended – it help the respondent to fill the

survey in comfortable manner

Few questions are closed ended - it is used to understand the product

awareness and Top of mind awareness

Page 4: Research Methodology

Every question have comment option too - so a respondent want to give any

more comment his most welcome , which help me to complete my project

Questionnaire is mostly same for transporter & drivers

Questionnaire for competitors are very much specific and focused to get their

term and conditions
