Presentation Notes
Smart city, does making the city infrastructure smart translate to smart city? We do not think that this is so. There is a white space between the city resident and the city infrastructure/ services. More investment has to be made to fill this whitespace with Intelligent interaction with the city and its government. This is not another technology solution. It is our way of defining a means to enable a resident to be effective in a city. In this presentation, we are proposing that for China unique development, we should start to pay attention to use China traditional values to enable this interaction to creating the Intelligent people. We believe that this is one of a few ways that can help China in it rapid urbanization journey.

Presentation Notes
For the purpose of today’s presentation we will limit many of China’s current challengers to a few issues which are prevalent in other countries as well. In each of these cases that we cite, people is at the center. In simple terms, perhaps an intelligent city could help better manage the massive migration and urban transformation issues of City Urban development than just intelligent automation of infrastructure.

Presentation Notes
Let us take an example of chronic disease and Elderly care. These are similar as they involves many stakeholders to care for these groups of special needs. Today. Multiple government departments and voluntary organizations are supporting this group of special needs. They are done independent of each other. At times, the most affected organization will lead this efforts and gather as many related departments as possible to deliver care. Sometime, a coordination meeting is called by one of the stakeholders and together they try to agree to coordinate. Or a lead government agency who is task to address this problem will gather all together and lead the program. These results in the resident to experience disjointed services and have a less complete experience. Future Cities. When a city is intelligent in the future, each person will have a holistic management of themselves. All the stakeholders are integrated and coordinated to deliver common goals to the residents. Such goals included Making the resident experience a purpose in living and have the necessary social support. In view of their age or illness, can they be financial independent. If not how can the government support them Despite of their deficits, can each one achieve a good quality of life? Can what we do achieve a higher level of wellness to the resident. It could be health. Active participation of events, etc.

Presentation Notes
Even though we plan in a 360, holistic manner, the execution of such policies or programs are done in a sequential manner. When a resident goes through each stages they will consumed services that meets their objectives like wellness. Technology can efficiently integrate these services together. At each stage we can measure their service level, each KPIs and well as the outcome of the entire process. Many new technology has appear that make this journey easier and better. Technology cost is reducing and more people can afford to use such technology implementation. Technologies has a short life-cycle. Hence an advance smart technology today will become obsolete technology in three years. Therefore, throughout a person life time, they will experience many generations of technology. Can technology meets future City challenges.? It can if will design it around a person lifestyle as a platform. The underlying technology can change and the life style of people evolves, as long as we can transfer the lifestyles and processes to the improved platform with new generation of technology, we will be able to adapt the changes of both technology and lifestyle changes. Therefore a smart city is not just a SNAPSHOT in time, but a evolving and living systems of adaptation and lifestyle evolution.
