RESEARCH INTO TELEVISION CHANNELS AND AUDIENCE

BBC1
BBC is a British station that broadcasts a variety of TV shows and films
usually aimed at wide age ranged audience suitable for families in particular.
Therefore only showing some shows past a certain time
The BBC has the most successful and reliable news channel in the country
and the most popular, the channel is formal and always politically correct.
BBC shows a range of television shows including many period dramas such
as Ripper Street, and many soaps such as Eastenders also the BBC shows
reality shows such as The Voice.
BBC is broadcasted across the world with many sister channels such as
BBC America so it’s channels are suitable for many different people from
many different cultures.

ITV 1
ITV is a family based station as its shows and films don’t consist of any
mature themes.
ITV is a channel that sticks to the government rules such as they cannot show
any shows or films containing strong language or adults themes past a certain
time.
ITV is mainly aimed at 16+ as the shows that are featured on it our child
friendly, they may have some scenes that may not be suitable for children under
the age of 16. As some programmes contain mature themes and adult humour
ITV mainly shows , shows such as the news , sports and drama and reality
such as X-factor , vampire diaries.
ITV does not show series or films such as crime or horror .
ITV 1 With the launch of the first commercial broadcaster ITV in 1955, the government required
that the local franchises fulfilled a similar obligation, mandating a certain level of local
news coverage, arts and religious programming, in return for the right to broadcast.
ITV1 is a mainstream public service channel funded by advertising revenue. It aims to
attract the widest possible audience by offering a range of high quality programmes that
are inclusive in their appeal, particularly at peak viewing times. Whilst principally targeted
at mass audiences, ITV1 also shows programmes for particular sections of the audience:
for example children, adults under 35, men, and people watching at home during the day.
ITV1 has no specific remit to cater for specific minorities or to be innovative in form or
content, though these qualities will be present in the schedule from time to time.
E4E4 is a companion channel to Channel 4 which includes a lot of US programme
imports making it very popular.
E4 contains a lot of mature and adult theme shows such as misfits, this film
contains strong language, drug use/substance abuse and sexual references.
E4 also shows a lot of reality shows which are often considered as controversial
such as popular drama Skins and many comedy TV shows such as 2 Broke Girls and
How I Met Your Mother.
E4 is a channel aimed at an age group 18+ due to the majority shows being
considered as inappropriate for a younger audience

cinema in the United Kingdom;
