Research into indie bandsOur competitors in the Indie genre

We are looking at created this look that the bands below have achieved. The styling they have used is something in which we hope to create by the use of props and costume.

The styling: -

The Lighting: -

From looking at these particular images from music videos we can see the variety of different lighting they have used in order to create different moods. We are going to use these backgrounds in order to influence our video as we want to create an isolated and deserted mood.

The setting: -

This picture of a band performing in a music video we feel is very effective and again hope to create. We feel this is successful as it combines the “indie” style with the isolation of a beach setting. We are going to look at using a similar location ourselves as feel this is very effective, we will have to look into weather conditions and use of travel to do so. The use of props for example the clocks and suitcases conform to the image of isolation and being lost, we again feel this is very effective as it conforms to the indie style very well.

The settings in both of these shots are in public and open spaces (almost empty) this again creates the feeling of isolation, which we are aspiring for. We plan to use the same kind of surroundings in our music video in order to create variety and to conform to our genre.
