I have noticed that in most student magazines there is a portrait picture of a student smiling. This gives a positive approach to the magazine and college. There is usually a lot of colour as well, also suggesting a positive attitude.

The masthead is usually the name of the college and placed in bold at the top of the cover.

I like the simplistic approach this magazine has taken. By not cluttering the cover with cover lines like a music magazine would, the readers can take a relaxed approach towards college life.

This magazine has also used bright funky colours which will appeal to a younger audience.

There is only one cover line on the left third which is unusual - Maybe this magazine is very well established and doesn't need cover lines to lure in an audience, it may already have a successful reputation.

I like this cover because it's fun. The colour and crazy shapes on this cover will appeal to the young minds of the audience.

The layout of this magazine is different to the 'KingEd's" magazine. It looks a lot more formal. There is less bright colour and more neutral colours. This suggests a more serious tone which will appeal to mature students.

The masthead is written in a formal serif font, emphasising the maturity of the magazine.

Most of the cover lines are on the left hand side of this magazine as well. This will help when the magazine is on a shelf in a store competing with other magazines.
