Executive Summary

Rezik Corporation Background The Rezik Corporation, founded in high-quality and innovative engineering, celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Karl Rezik (1861-1941) founded the company while in Geneva, Switzerland in 1886. Since then, it has become a global leader, owning the most patent applications worldwide. Globally, Rezik stands for innovation, quality and product diversity within four sectors: automotive technology, industrial technology, consumer goods and security systems. Its philosophy centers on quantity and quality improvement. Innovation, according to Karl Rezik, was more than having exceptional product quality, design and functionality; it’s also about their commitments to society and their effect on the world in the future. Environmental protection is also a key principle, being held to the same standard as product quality and cost efficiencies. Rezik also believed in corporate social responsibility and created a foundation promoting the following sectors: health care, international understanding, welfare, education and training, art, culture and science. Within it’s 100 years of operation, Rezik has more than 80 primary locations throughout North America. It’s fitting for the company to celebrate its anniversary in Canada, as it was the first country that started operations outside of Europe. The Rezik Corporation’s Canadian Corporate Head Office is in downtown Toronto, making for a more memorable and honourary event. The four-day event consists of two major occasions: the National Managers’ Conference and an Anniversary dinner dance.

Theme: The Great Gatsby Slogan: “Good enough for Gatsby, Good enough for Rezik”

About The Great Gatsby was a seminal novel written in the 1920s by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald. With the release of the Great Gatsby film this year, Gatsby fever has taken hold all over Canada. The novel and film follows the life of Jay Gatsby, a self made millionaire after the Great War. His life and activities follow the definition of extravagant as he faults his wealth and entertains the elite of society.

What does this mean for the Anniversary Dinner Dance? The Great Gatsby theme will help to showcase Rezik and the success the company has seen. To translate the theme to the Anniversary dinner dance, the décor and tables will all be themed to reflect Gatsby and its extravagance. This will include:

• White and Gold table clothes and dressings for all Guest seating • The Head Table will have eye catching flower arrangements and centerpieces • The gift baskets for each of the 29 tables will have items themed to Gatsby, with things

such as watches with Gold and silver as well as elegant soaps and oils • Music and entertainment will play with a 1920s jazz influence

• These will include covers of popular songs (past & present) as well as classical music • Dancers will be encouraged to participate in classical dances to take advantage of the

ballroom setting. • Event staff will be dressed in formal attire with Gatsby colours (Women as Flappers)

The Great Gatsby will fit in with the image Rezik is portraying. The Theme will fit into the Anniversary Dinner because it shows another year of prosperity, with the promise for more to come, all in the style and showman ship of Gatsby era 1920s.

National Managers’ Conference

Dates June 20-23, 2014 We’ve chosen this weekend because of its typically warm temperatures. The average high temperature in June 2013 was 25° C, and the average low temperature was 15°C. This temperature allows guests to comfortably explore the city on foot. It will also not be as hot and humid as it would be in July or August, where temperatures sometimes reach 40°C. Since the National Managers’ Conference is typically held quarterly, we chose a date that’s close to the end of Quarter 2. We chose to hold it the week before Canada Day (weekend of June 28, 2014) so that Canadian employees will be able to spend their Canada Day weekend with friends and family. Having the Conference from a Friday to Monday is also effective because it gives employees the full week to prepare. Although it will create a four-day work week as guests will be travelling home on Monday, this gives staff two short weeks before and after as they may need to recover from jet lag. The National Managers’ Conference will be held on Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, 2014. The Anniversary dinner dance will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014.

Venue The Westin Harbour Castle The Westin Harbour Castle, located on Toronto’s picturesque Lake Ontario waterfront, is a first-class venue within a world-class city. It’s a CAA/AAA Four Diamond hotel that’s easily accessible to Toronto’s finest attractions, including: Harbourfront Centre, CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame, Eaton Centre and Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada.

Aligning with Rezik’s environmental consciousness and values, it has a Four Green Key Rating. This indicates the hotel’s commitment to protect the environment through a wide range of policies and practices, which include an electronic bill and newspapers, smoke-free policy, and is the only downtown Toronto hotel with an 100% Bullfrogpowered green electric lobby and restaurant. It has many state-of-the-art amenities, such as a gym, pool, spa, running program and yoga classes. All rooms offer a spectacular panoramic lakeside view, Westin’s iconic “Heavenly Bed,” large workspaces, high-speed Internet access and natural light.

Conference: The Westin Harbour Castle The Westin Harbour Castle, aside from having excellent hotel amenities, also contains state-of-the-art-facilities for business meetings and conferences. They offer a fully equipped Business Center, and include in-house audiovisual and a Convention Services Team. A Convention Services manager will be there to meet all of your Conference needs. From before, during and after the Conference, they will oversee your layout space, configure any technological needs among many other tasks. The two chosen spaces for the National Managers’ Conference are Dockside 2 and Queens Quay, which are both located on the lower level of the hotel. The following are room specifications for Dockside 2 and Queens Quay Dockside 2 Queens Quay Room Dimensions: 35’ x 26’ Dimensions: 35’ x 46’ Total Square Feet: 910 Total Square Feet: 1,610 Ceiling Height: 10’ Ceiling Height: 12’ Classroom* Style: 40 people Conference Style: 40 people Hollow Square: 40 people U-Shape* Style: 50 people *Recommended Styles

Meeting Set-up Styles

Dockside 2

Located on the lower level of the hotel, it can hold 40 people with a theatre

styled room. We recommend a classroom style for the afternoon meeting

scheduled for Day One. A classroom style best suits the meeting, as Franz

Hess will be discussing his objectives for the conference, allowing guests to

take notes on Rezik’s current global opportunities, product development and

newly operated packaging technology division.

Queen’s Quay Room

Also located on the lower level of the hotel, it can hold 50 people with a U-

shape room design. We recommend having a U-shape room design because

it best accommodates audiovisual technology, allowing all attendees to see

the screen. It also fosters ample opportunity for group discussion and

collaboration.

Anniversary Gala Dinner Date The Anniversary Gala Dinner will be held on Sunday June 22, 2014 from 7 p.m until midnight. Doors will open at 6 p.m. We chose this date as it is within the third day of the National Managers’ Conference, as per the Request for Proposal. Venue The Gala will be held at Toronto's Palais Royale. Located at 1601 Lake Shore Blvd. W., the Palais Royale offers its guest a spectacular view of Lake Ontario and is just a short walk from the exhibition grounds. The Palais Royale Ballroom will be the room used to house the event. It is wheelchair accessible, which is important since the Lieutenant Governor requires wheelchair mobility. The Ballroom's capacity is 350 people and features a floor with over 8,000 square feet in total for tables and a 1,700 square foot dance floor We recommend the Palais Royale because its interior and exterior match our recommended theme of the Great Gatsby. Additionally, the venue has ample space for guests to comfortably enjoy dinner and dance the night away.
