Made of highest grade Meehanite Casting, in accordance with ASTM specifications, Lagun Mills are built oversized for increased durability and ruggedness. They outweigh major competitors by nearly 1,000 lbs. (453kg).

Interchangability of column, knee, saddle: Lagun is the only factory worldwide that can offer full interchangability of all castings. (The only part difference from machine to machine is the gib length).

A Lagun table is larger than most major competitors: 55.25” x 10” (1,403 x 254mm). Better support for larger parts.

Extra wide 23” (584mm) to provide excellent support. There is no tilting or binding with Lagun’s large table and special way design.

Rolled and ground to provide better accuracy and with a high nickel content to improve durability. Adjustable antibacklash nuts allow for compensation as the machine ages.

This advance design, clamps the table to the saddle and does not push on the gib (This keeps the saddle from distorting when locked). Handles are spring-loaded to allow repositioning once locked.

The ways on a Lagun Mill are induction heat treated, then precision ground. All Lagun Mills come standard with a unique combination Dovetail / Square Y-axis way. This offers a wider area for support, and the benefit of a Dove-tail for maximum accuracy.

Standard on all models. Allows for a greater tool life and higher speeds for improved finishes. One shot lubrication to the ways and screws, ensures an equal amount of lubricatiuon oil to all critical areas.

At maximum quill travel, 75% of the total quill length is still inside the housing, providing maximum support and rigidity.

Head assembly can be tilted 45° from front to back.

90° swivel left to right. Angular settings employ worm and gear.

RAM TRAVEL

Massive ram features 19” (483mm) of bearing length and 22.18” (563mm) travel. Ram/Head assembly can be easily rotated a full 360°.

SLOTTER ATTACHMENT

The ram design allows the use of an optional slotting attachment mounted opposite the standard head.

5 HP (4 kW)(Baldor motor) Electronic Variable Speed (EVS) system with Poly-vee belt drive that eliminates the heat and vibration caused by the cogbelt and manual speed change of the pulley drive system. The EVS system housed in a NEMA type control box with a power kill switch. Spindle speeds to 5,000 RPM electronically variable in two ranges with LED readout, Electronic and manual brake for rapid spindle stop, centralized control station on the head with push button forward / reverse. 230V; 60Hz; 3 phase (opt. 380V; 440V; 575V; single phase 220V) 4-bearing R-8 or 4-bearing #40 NST taper.

Head - (A VS B)EVS spindle power-vs-standard variable speed (See B) At 356 RPM, the EVS reaches its full horsepower rating (5HP Baldor motor - constant duty rating) and produces 74 ft/lbs (10 kgm) of torque allowing you to mill, drill, and tap materials other machines can barely cut.

Spindle Drive - (Baldor EVS Drive) - 5 Hp electronic variable speed (EVS) motor with polyvee belt drive eliminates heat and vibration. Replaces cog belt and manual speed change linkage of pulley drive systems.- EVS system housed in NEMA type control box with power kill switch.- Spindle speed up to 4,200 RPM electronically variable in two ranges with LED readout. Low gear range 5 - 500 RPM High gear range 500 - 4,200 RPM- Centralized control station on head with push button (forward-reverse) for thru-hole tapping.- Electronic and manual brake for rapid spindle stop.

Spindle taper is R-8(optional #40 NST, #30 NST, or universal 200 or 300) with four hi-precision class 7 bearings.

w/40 to 1 ratio Universal model with gears to drive from left side of machine table. Supplied with tailstock, indexing plates for manual operation rapid index feature and tailstock.

These tables can be mounted either horizontally or vertically, supplied with 3 dividing plates. A wide range of angular divisions can be made using on index plate having several circles of equal rotation of the workpiece to within 20 seconds of arc.

Use to obtain clearance for very large workpieces. Riser block extends the height ranges (4”-8”-12”) are easily mounted to the column of the machine with four bolts.

The 3/4 HP vertical shaping head performs intricate shapes. Rear mounted, may be swung into place to perform light shaping operations. Adjusted to any vertical or compound angle to the table, can produce shapes which normally requires special broach. It is a must in cases of blind holes. It is mounted on the ram rear and can be rotated 180° to position it over the table for usage. 4” stroke from 80 - 420 rpm.

SLOTTER TOOL KIT Slotter Tool Kit with 7 shaping tools and 3 bit holders.

(all Angle Head) Supplements the right angle attachment described on this page. Any corner with a small radius can be finish milled. The unit is supplied with 3 collets of 1/8” - 3/16” - 1/4”. Rotational speed is increased 50%.

Designed to simplify right angle work by reducing the need of special tooling and difficult fixtures. Ideal for cavities and pocket jobs. It has aligning pads for quick positioning. Available for R-8 , #30, and #40 taper.
