P&C News

Hello and welcome to all of our new families in 2017,

and welcome back to all returning families!

Welcome event – Barefoot Bowls After the fun we had last year, we will again offer all

families the opportunity to gather over a game of bare-

foot bowls at North Beach Bowling and

Recreation Club – Friday 17th February from 5pm. See

the invitation for details – please RSVP by Wednesday

15th (return the slip to the office) The P&C will sponsor

this event, however a gold coin per entry would be

appreciated! Note: This really is a family event; our

school aged children are encouraged to play/form teams!

First ordinary meeting

Next Wednesday 15th February is our first P&C meet-

ing for the year. Starting at 5.30pm at the school I’d like

to invite everyone to attend. Our main focus will be to

give an introduction to new parents as to the role of the

P&C, to give an overview of how parents can be in-

volved, to discuss what our goals and focus should be

this year, and look at suitable / more convenient times

to meet. Already we’ve contributed to a better school

life in 2017 by sponsoring the bus to the swimming car-

nival and purchasing the new microwave in the canteen.

J Children are welcome to come along, and we will show

a movie in an adjoining classroom.

AGM

The AGM will be held next month on Wednesday 15th March at 5.30pm. At this meeting all current committee

positions will be declared vacant and nominations for

each role open. Roles on the “executive” (sounds fancy

but it’s really not!) are President, Vice President, Treas-

urer and Secretary. This year we really do need help to

fill these important roles; some of our current team

members have been on the exec team for a number of

years and now wish to make way for others. If we cannot

find people to take on these roles unfortunately we

won’t be able to offer our students and families many of

the wonderful services like canteen, subsidised excur-

sions or busses, new playground equipment, uniform

coordination or fun community events like the bubble

soccer and outdoor cinema that were such a success last

year. Without a P&C we won’t have a parent body rep-

resentation for consultation with Jane and our wonderful

teachers.

Perhaps you have skills in:

- finance and can do a spot of bookkeeping,

- minute taking at meetings

- writing grant applications

- coordinating uniform sales,

- leading up fundraising,

- monitoring our social media,

- coordinating an event

- canteen duties

- leading small building projects

- generating new ideas!

I do encourage all parents; old and new to come along to

our meeting NEXT week to hear how you could help with

“just one thing” this year, and consider putting your

name up for nomination at the AGM. Even if you don’t

volunteer for an exec position, we still need your sup-

port in the above areas and your attendance at one or

two meetings per year! If you can’t make evenings I will

be at school most mornings between 8.30 and 9am over

the next week if you have any questions about the

P&C, or of the roles and help needed.

Uniforms 1. Most sizes are still available in our uniforms. If you

would like a special order for a different size, please let

me know via Bev at the office.

2. There is now a rack in the staff room to display pre

-loved uniform items for sale. Please provide your items

on a hanger and tag them clearly with size, price and

your name. Bev will handle sales as long as this is done

clearly!

3. Don't forget that we also have a clothing pool

where items can be donated. A gold coin donation is

appreciated for anything taken from the pool.

Communication If you are on Facebook – please join our private Face-

book Group by searching

Thanks everyone
