2. Write down any ethnicities that you can identify in this clip:

Slide 1: Title slide including a summary of what you think this clip is about in one sentence.

Slides 2-6: Choose at least 3 key scenes/parts of the clip to analyse in more detail (work through them in the order they appear in the clip). Choose parts in the clip that you think are important in constructing ideas about the characters or the situation. Include the following for each key scene/part of the clip:

Screen grabs to illustrate which part of the clip you are focusing on. Annotations that describe the mise en scene, camerawork, editing and sound

and the meaning created by them (denotation and connotations). An explanation of overall ideas constructed in the scene.

See over sheet for an example of a detailed Ppt. slide that focuses on the kitchen scene. Note that all four technical areas are covered and discussed in combination. You can discuss each technical area separately if you find this works better for you.

Read through the Slideshow on Representation of Ethnicity (on your teacher’s journal) and answer the following questions:

1. Do you think any of the representations in Hotel Babylon are stereotypical? Explain your answer (add this to the conclusion on your Ppt.).

2. Think of other TV Dramas you have seen. Do you recognise any ethnicity stereotypes? Give examples of characters that you think reinforce or challenge stereotypes to support your answer.
