Excel Processing Calculate Options
F9 Calculates any active workbooks Shift+F9 Calculates the active worksheet Ctrl+Alt+F9 Calculates all formula cells within any active workbooks. Normally, Excel® only re-calculates cells in which
parameters of the cell formula have changed. This function will re-calculate the cell regardless of status.
To turn off auto-calc on new Spreadsheet
1. Start Excel®. The default Book1 workbook is displayed. 2. Select Tools>Options from the Excel® menu. 3. Select the Calculation tab. 4. Change the option to Manual and uncheck the "Recalculate before save" checkbox. 5. Click the Ok button. 6. Select File>Save As... from the Excel® menu 7. In the Save As dialog, navigate to Excel®'s XLSTART folder. This folder is located in either "C:\Program Files\
Microsoft Office\Office" or "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10" depending upon your version of Microsoft® Office.
8. In the Save As dialog, overtype the File name (currently set to Book1.xls) to "Personal.xls". 9. Click the Save button to complete the Save As dialog. 10.Select Window>Hide from the Excel® menu. The workbook disappears. 11. Close or Exit Excel®. 12. You'll receive a prompt asking if you want to save the changes. 13. Click Yes. That's it. From now on when you start Excel®, the Personal.xls workbook will be the first workbook loaded (but hidden).
This in effect changes Excel®'s default Calculation options.
