Founder and Current CEO

FOUNDER : Google began in January 1996 and founded on 4th sep 1996 as a research project by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, a Ph.D. student at Stanford working on the Stanford Digital Library Project (SDLP). The SDLP's goal was to “to develop the enabling technologies for a single, integrated and universal digital library." and was funded through the National Science Foundation among other federal agencies. Page and Brin tested their thesis as part of their studies, and laid the foundation for their search engine. By early 1997, the google was known as backrub.

Current CEO: Eric Emerson Schmidt is the current CEO of google. Eric Emerson Schmidt was born on 27 april 1955. Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin interviewed Schmidt. Schmidt impressed the founders and they recruited Eric Schmidt to run their company in 2001 under the influence of venture capitalists John Doerr and Michael Moritz. Early in his career, Schmidt held a series of technical positions with IT companies, including Bell Labs, Zilog and Xerox’s famed Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). He joined Sun Microsystems in 1983, led its Java development efforts and rose to become Chief Technology Officer. In 1997, he was appointed CEO of Novell. Schmidt left Novell after the acquisition of Cambridge Technology Partners.

Headquarters and Current products

Headquarter: The Googleplex is the corporate headquarters complex of Google. Inc., located at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway in Mountain View, Santa Clara County, California, near San Jose. The name Googleplex is a play on words, being a portmanteau of Google and complex. The office space and corporate campus is located within a larger 26-acre (110,000 m2). Neighbors of the Googleplex include ALZA Plaza and the Mozilla Foundation to the west; Shoreline Amphitheatre to the north; Intuit to the northwest and Century Theatres, Microsoft Corporation’s Silicon Valley research complex, and the Computer History Museum to the south. Moffett Field lies nearby to the east.

Current Products: From the day the google has been founded they introduce to us many products. The total number of products in google list are 109 and some of those are google chrome, images, videos , blogger, google map, web finder, picasa, gmail, orkut, alerts, news, etc. the current products launched by google are google labs, google goog411, new google sketchup, google 3d models, new google toolbar, etc.

Logos & Slogans

Logos: Google has several logos since its renaming from "BackRub". The current official Google logo was designed by Ruth Kedar, and is a wordmark based on the Catull typeface. The company also includes various modifications and/or humorous features, such as cartoon modifications, of their logo for use on holidays, birthdays of famous people, and major events, such as the Olympics.

Slogan: "Don't be evil" is the informal corporate motto or slogan of Google, originally suggested by Google employees Paul Buchheit and Amit Patel at a meeting. Buchheit, the creator of Gmail, said he "wanted something that, once you put it in there, would be hard to take out,". Google are now in a way to change their slogan.

Income: The net income of the company is $4.227 billion. Their revenue is $21.796 billion, operating income $6.632 billion, total assets $31.768 billion, total equity $28.239 billion. These all are for year 2008. Till june 2009 there are total 19786 workers working day and night in the company.

Future

The google has great future. Some of the points that shows google great future are:

1. There will be several mobile devices that run the Google Android operating system.

2. Google Chrome makes deal with OEM’s, and snags a significant chunk of the browser market.

3. GOOG will gain some of the ground it lost on wall street.4. Google Apps will continue to gain momentum in the Enterprise.
