selected urban areas.

31 July 2013 The Department briefed the Committee on the progress

made in reducing the cost of communication for both

fixed and pre-paid communication services. The

Committee was, however, concerned that South Africa's

communication costs were too high compared to other

countries and that the Department had done very little to

reduce the costs as promised in recent years.
