A ‘preview’ of leather/ colour proposals for the MODEUROP Autumn Winter 17/18 season was held on

24th March 2016 at the CSIR-CLRI Shoe Design & Development Centre in Chennai.

Shri N Shafeeq Ahmed, COA Member, CLE and Chairman, IFLMEA in his address said that the owing to

climatic changes as well as inventory, the seasons have narrowed and not very distinct to which Mr

Dr B Chandrasekaran, Director, CSIR-CLRI was pleased to release the ‘first copy’ of SPOTLIGHT: Report

on LINEAPELLE and MODITALIA: Italian Leather Textures for the Spring Summer 2017 season as well as a

‘preview’ of the leathers/ colours for the Autumn Winter 17/18 season to Shri N Shafeeq Ahmed, COA

Member, CLE and Chairman, IFLMEA. He also informed members about the ensuing IULTCS Congress

and revealed that the plans of publicizing this event at the forthcoming APLF in conjunction with CLE

and IFLMEA.

In his presentation titled SPOTLIGHT, Md Sadiq reviewed the LINEAPELLE Colours & Textures vis-à-vis the

MODEUROP Colours for the Spring Summer 2017 season. This was followed by ‘COLOURS OF FREEDOM:

a preview of the colours and textures for the Autumn Winter 17/18 season.

Shri K Dayalan demonstrated that 3D was a very important element for surface textures for the Spring

Summer 2017 season.

He said that, Color is a marvelous expression of freedom, of openness and creativity. This season, more

than ever, Color symbolizes ours desire for “singularity, inter-dependence and complexity”. Color is the

ideal terrain for playfulness and for rigor, encouraging new accords, inviting us to fearlessly embrace

new experiences and paradoxes - rather than cling to dead-end dogma and intolerance.

Shri Md Sadiq tracked the colours season by season and gave a summary of the colour palette for the

Autumn Winter 17/18 season.

The colour palette for the Autumn Winter 17/18 season were showcased in three colour groups: Warm,

Cool and Neutral.

17 Tanners had developed 460 leather/ colour proposals for presentation at the MODEUROP

Roundtable & Colour Club Meeting for the Autumn Winter 17/18 season slated for 12-13 April 2016 in

Offenbach, Germany.

The members present expressed the usefulness of the information presented in their business interaction

with their buyers who had now started developing newer articles based on the advanced information

presented by CSIR-CLRI and MODEUROP.
