“ReseaRch Methodology & scientific Publication”

SEPTEMBER 2019 National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (Divyangjan) organised One Day National Seminar in

assosciation with Indian Journal of Orthopaedics & West Bengal Orthopaedic Association on “Research

Methodology & Scietific Publication” on 29th

September 2019 at NILD Auditorium. Dr. (Prof.) D.P. Bakshi,

was the Chief Guest and Sh. K.V.S. Rao, Director (Plan), DEPwDs, Ministry of Social Justice &

Empowerment, Govt. of India was the Guest of Honour of the program.

CME Program was Inaugurated by Lamp Lighting by the Dr. (Prof.) DP Bakshi, Sh. KVS Rao, Dr. SP Das,

Director, NILD, Kolkata, Dr. (Prof.) Lalit Maini, Director, MAMC & Chief Editor IJO, Dr. NK Pal,

President, WBOA, Dr. Sanjay Keshkar, Convenor of the program along with felicitation of dignitaries

followed by Saraswati Bandana by the Students of NILD, Kolkata. Welcome speech was given by Dr. S.P.

Das, Faculties were introduced by Dr. Sanjay Keshkar, Convenor of program and Vote of Thanks was given

by Pravin Kumar, Coordinator & Head, Dept. of Physiotherapy, NILD, Kolkata.

The objective of CME on “Research Methodology & Scientific Publication” was giving an insight (and

expertise) to Faculties, Doctors, PG students regarding conceptualization, methodology, execution, errors and

critical analysis of research work for publication in reputed indexed journals. Panel discussions on paper

writing in order to provide practical solutions for problems faced during the process of research &

publishing it. Total of 140 participants including faculties of Institute, members of WBOA, several editors &

reviewers of reputed journals, Doctors, Senior faculties members of different medical colleges of Kolkata and

PG students participated in the seminar.

Prof. (Dr.) Lalit Maini, Chief Editor, IJO & Director, Maulana Azad

Medical College & LN Hospital, New Delhi was the key note speaker

and talked on different aspect of Research, hypothesis, how to choose

appropriate journal for your article and how to write manuscript.

Dr. S.P. Das, Organising Chairman & Director (O) NILD, Kolkata talked

on How to deal with revision & rejection of manuscript.

Prof. (Dr.) Alok C. Agrawal, Professor & HOD (Orthopaedics),

AIIMS, Raipur & Editor of JOTR addressed on Importance and need

of Research & Publication.

Dr. Murli Poddual, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, SME,

Tata Consultancy Services, Mumbai and Associate Editor of IJO talked

on Types of studies and how to submit article including supportive

materials like Images, videos with their legends.

Prof. (Dr.) Bhaskar Borgahain, Professor & HOD (Orthopaedics),

NEIGRIMS, Shillong has given emphasis on Pitfalls of manuscript and how to

avoid it as well as on literature search.

Sh. G. Shankar Ganesh, Lecturer at CRC Lucknow talked on how to

read a scientific paper.

Dr. Nirmal Dey, Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon has given lecture on Study

designs their types & Significance.

Dr. Ujjwal K. Debnath, Dr. A. K. Pal, Dr. P.K. Lenka, Dr. Sanjay Keshkar, Dr. G.G. Kar, Dr. Sanjay Kumar,

Dr. Swarnendu Samanta, Dr. Nasim Akhtar and several other eminent speakers talked on different aspect of

Research methodology & Scientific Publication.
