Skillathon Concept

Skill India, since its inception in 2015 has been supporting the skilling ecosystem to achieve scale and speed

while maintaining quality and standards. It has supported millions of youth in acquiring skills, finding

employment and opening up entrepreneurship opportunities.

Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and National Skill Development Corporation has laid a

very strong foundation in the initial years. In the present phase, Skill India needs increased coverage,

promotion and large scale adaptation.

To realize its mission to reach out to each and every youth in the country, Ministry of Skill Development and

Entrepreneurship and National Skill Development Corporation has started “Skill on wheels” or Kaushal

Rath and Skillathon to spread awareness around Skill Mission, opportunities and support system available

to the youth and engage all the stakeholders in a structured manner. After the immense success of Skill on

Wheel in several districts in Karnataka, it’s time to roll it out across India.

In the 1st phase of present phase of Skill on Wheel between 8th Aug to 31st Aug, we covered

14 districts of Chhattisgarh

Coverage in 1st phase

In the present stage, we reached out to the target group that is the youth in 18-35 years of age. We have

selected this age group as these are the most productive years of the youth and if they are gainfully

engaged and employed during these years, more can be achieved in the years to come. Another reason of

keeping this age group is to align the same with the entry and maximum age allowed for enrollment to

different skill development being implemented in India.

The target group comprises of:

Activities Undertaken

Planning and implementation of Skill on wheels required participation and coordination at all levels. Following activities have been undertaken in Chhattisgarh

Grand Flagging off – 12th Aug 2018, Raipur, Chhattisgarh Kaushal Rath of 14 SUVs were flagged off by Shri Anant Kumar Hegde and DR Raman Singh from Raipur on 12th Aug 2018 to cover 14 districts and 52 blocks in the month of August.

Kondagoan

Counseling and registration of candidates is one of the most important steps in the Skillonwheels campaign. All the counselors have been trained and made aware of various schemes and initiatives under SkillIndia. They are also equipped with the Sector wise job roles and all the job roles approved under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana(PMKVY). The counselors connects with candidates for spreading awareness, understanding their skilling and job requirements and preferences, clear doubt and guide to take the maximum benefits of the initiatives under Skill India Mission. They also register candidates to make sure that only the genuine data is captured.
