: Plantation over old waste dumps has been carried out to improve the

aesthetic beauty.

pattern

: Mining pits-23.00ha, OB dump-4.974 ha, infrastructure-6.4 ha, Road-

10.16 ha, green belt-6.3 ha.

(d) Agriculture : No agriculture activity is carried out within lease area.

(e) Forest (flora &

fauna)

: Site specific wild life conservation plan has been prepared and approved

by PCCF (WL) and Chief Wild life Warden (Orissa) vide memo no. 6264

dated 04/09/10.A sum of Rs. 280.00 Lakh has been deposited with DFO,

Bonai under CAMPA account to undertake activities within project area &

project impact area.

(f) Vegetation :

(g) Public building, places and monuments (protected monument and historical monument), places of

worship and places of tourist interest:

A temple has been constructed by the lessee within the lease area.

ii) Water Environment

(a) Surface water

: Water quality is monitored quarterly, Potability test is being done at

regular interval at IMMT - BBSR. Drinking water is Potable as per report.

(b) Ground water ; No adverse affect to the ground water due to mining activities.

(c) Quality of water : Quality of surface water within the permissible limit.

iii) Air Environment

Water Sprinkling is done on Haul Road, Processing yard, dump area and

camp area by water tanker.

(a) Noise Noise level is well within the permissible limit.

(b) Air

Ambient air quality survey is conducted quarterly. Suspended particulate

matters are found within specified permit limit.

(c) Climatic condition Humid tropical

environment

Nearby villagers of the lease area are primarily depend on this project since

4 decades.

(a) Social & demogra

-phic profile

Most of the people of this area is dominated by tribals and belonging to

backward classes. Their main livelihood is agricultural. Majority of the local

peoples are employed in mines.

(b) Recommending

health and safety

1. Medical Checkup is being conducted at regular interval

2. Medicines are provided free of cost to villagers around the lease hold

area

3. Free ambulance service is provided round the year to meet the medical

emergency.

1. Outdoor games like volleyball, football & cricket are arranged to identify

the hidden talent among the local youth.

2. To create sportsmanship in local young community necessary sports

material is distributed to the local sports club.

3. Indoor and outdoor games facilities are arranged for employees.

8. Sensitive technical items on conservation of mineral, scientific mining and protection of

environment

Specific issues that are required to be kept in focus for examination & monitoring should be stated

here. Mining operations were commenced in the lease area since 03.02.1945. Continuation of

mining operation since 1945 has opened up 22 no. of quarries in the mineralized area in 4 blocks viz.

Nandagira block, Rajbasa block, mahulsukha block and Lohandangar block. Presently the mining

operations have been concentrated at Nandagira block only.

Mining operations are being carried out by semi mechanized means by maintaining height and width

of benches at 5 m and 9 m respectively. Quarry Q-1N is merged with quarries 5b & 5C due to

continuity of vein of the ore body.

Environment protective measures like Retaining wall, Garland drain and settling pond all along bottom

periphery of waste dump in Nandagira block has been maintained.

9. Scrutiny of annual returns on cost of operation, reserves, production, pit mouth value, stock,

land use pattern and fixe assets for the year 2011-12:

(1) Cost of operation : Rs 2064.36

(2) Reserve : 374424.318 Metric Ton

(3) Production : 17118.431 Metric Ton ( 2011-12)

(4)Pit's Mouth Value : Rs 5719.00

(5) Stock : 47809.271 Metric Ton( 2011-12)
