SECRETARY GENERAL

It is a great pleasure to present through this activity report the remarkable re-sults obtained by ANFACO-CECOPESCA throughout 2014, which, once again, consolidate it as the reference technology center for marine and food complex.

With an excellent human team of 88 professionals and equipped with the most advanced technological equipment, over 2014 ANFACO-CECOPESCA has developed 74 projects of R&D&i of which 79% were executed under di-rect contract with companies. There have been also managed about 19,000 samples for analytical determinations have been made and more than 1,200 performances of technical assistance and resolved more than 2,300 techni-cal and normative consultations received from companies. All these actions were carried out for a total of 434 customers in 18 countries, which makes us believe firmly in the right orientation of our services focused to the customers.

From this perspective, last year 2014 we have upgrade our research capa-bilities through the creation of the new Centre for Advanced Technologies Research for the Marine and Food sector, which will be completed during this year 2015, assuming a total investment of 8.5 M €. This firm long-term commitment will be a qualitative and quantitative leap towards excellence in research in ANFACO-CECOPESCA, and therefore in the marine and food sec-tor, allowing addressing new research and innovation lines, mainly aligned with the priorities set by the Research and Innovation Strategies for Smart Specialisation - RIS3 Galicia, and focusing on the development of these lines at an international level, with special focus to Horizon 2020 Programme. Also, these new facilities will implement the philosophy of Industry 4.0 - Factory of the Future for the benefit of a more flexible and automated factories. Ultimately, this ambitious project will make available to the industry new te-chnological solutions in terms of quality and food safety, sustainability, tra-ceability, development of more efficient technology and food products with higher added value to consolidate its global leadership role.

Therefore, we are pleased that our proximity to the companies and our ca-pability of adaptation and anticipation with our partners and customers on one hand and the rigor and know-how of our technical expert staff on the other, are reflected in the basis of the results obtained, in the utmost trust of the industrial sector we represent, so we can predict the best future pers-pective for ANFACO-CECOPESCA and its associated companies.

D. Jesús M. Alonso EscurísPRESIDENT

In a highly competitive environment like this, the capacity for technological and business leadership is essential to boost economic activity, job creation and penetration into international markets.

In this area, the generation, absorption and exploitation of new ideas and technologies through R&D&i has enabled the processing and marketing industry of fishery products and aquaculture to develop leadership skills internationally, marketing high added value and competitive products in global markets. For this, is essential that the industrial sector linked to the Sea-industry complex relies on the technological support of organizations like ANFACO-CECOPESCA to ensure the incorporation and use of new tech-nologies and products successfully.

Year after year, scientific and technological activity of ANFACO-CECOPESCA is increased significantly. Thus, in 2014 a volume of revenues of 5.6 M €, up 7.2% from the previous year, was recorded. In addition, 88% of revenues come from R&D&i and technological services, not taking into account any noncompetitive grant, supporting the great involvement of the industrial sector in the activities of ANFACO-CECOPESCA.

We must continue on this growing trend, supporting companies in their pro-cess of technological modernization and expansion into new markets, thus forming a leading and cutting-edge sector, equipped with technologies and tools that allows a position of leadership in international markets.
