PROLOGUE

Many of the chemical pesticides are carcinogenic, non – bio degradable, and are

pollutants to nature.

Also they become ineffective due to development of new physiological races of

pathogens.

Pest repellents, based on essential oils are eco friendly and will not be get immunized

by pathogens. Residues are not hazardous to man and animal. They are very safe and

biodegradable and non-carcinogenic. They are not a threat to the environment.

First studies on the inhibitory action of essential oils on bacterial growth were by

Chamberland in 1887.

Use of plant extracts to control plant diseases was first reported by Democrats as early

as 470 B.C.

CONSTITUENTS AND MODE OF ACTION:

"Fatty acids are well known to have insect repellency," says chemist Charles

Cantrell.

Anise oil has reportedly been used as an insecticide against head-lice and mites

Catnip is a natural repellent to cockroaches.

Cayenne pepper, citrus oil, lemon juice, cinnamon, coffee grounds repel Ants.

Cedar repels many insects including moths

Citrus is a natural flea deterrent.

Cymbopogon citrate is a safe insect repellent.

Garlic has a natural sulfur which repels insects, including mosquitoes, ticks,

fleas and even black flies. An environmentally benign garlic-derived polysulfide

product is approved for use in the European Union and the UK as a nematicide

and insecticide, including for use for control of cabbage root fly and red mite in

poultry.

Marigold is a natural Bug Repellent.

Mint is a known fly repellent.

Fusarium moniliformae Alternaria citri Alternaria alternate

Alternaria solani Alternaria sps. Alternaria tenuis

Rhizoctonia solani Pythium aphanidermatum Botrytis cinerea

Rhizoctonia stolonifer Cladosporium cucumerinum Aspergillus niger

Aspergillus flavus Aspergillus sps Aspergillus nidulans

Cymbopogan martini Ustilago maydis Curvularia lunata

Curvularia sps. Scilerotium oryzae Scilerotium rolfsil

Scilerotium sps. Erwinia caratovora Drechslera rostrata

Colletotrichum falcatum Rhizopus sps Pistaloshia psidii

Ceratocystis paradoxa Periconia atropupurea Pyricularia grisea

Phytophthora parasitica

Repel can also be used as a seed dresser to prevent infection of soil pathogens to the

root system. Seeds can be soaked before germination for 1 hour in Repel.

Repel can also be used while transplanting the seedlings.

SUGGESTED LEVEL OF APPLICATION:

100-150 ml/ Acre in about 200-300 L depending on the crop once in 15-21 days

SUGGESTED METHOD OF APPLICATION:

Repel can be applied by air or with ground equipment.

A fine spray applied to the entire parts of the plant surface will be most advantageous.

Repel works best if applied before pests become a problem.

Apply Repel at first sign of insect pests or better before.

For vegetables, spray several days before blooming.

CAUTION

Do not apply during or immediately preceding pollination, as Repel repels bees and

other pollinators.

FOR BETTER RESULTS:

Apply 4-8 times per season - approximately 15 to 21 days apart.

Begin applications when plants are young and before pests are a problem.
