ERC press release – 13/12/2012: Eight acclaimed scientists appointed as members of ERC Scientific

Council

Prior to the announcement, the press team alerted the Representations of the European Commission

in BE, DE, DK, ES, HU, IT and UK. Some of them translated the ERC press release in their national

language (e.g. HU, DK) while some others posted it on their social media accounts (see annex 1).

Magyar siker: erre büszkék lehetünk

Az Európai Bizottság csütörtökön nyolc új tagot nevezett ki az Európai Kutatási Tanács irányító

testületébe, a tudományos tanácsba. Az új tagok közt van Kondorosi Éva növénybiológus.

A kinevezések a tudományos tanács 2013 elején kezdődő, szakaszos megújításának a részét képezik. Az új tagok megbízatása a jövő év végéig tart, amikor az EU úgynevezett hetedik kutatási keretprogramja is lezárul – írja az MTI.

Az újonnan kinevezett tagokat az EKT független, állandó – hat elismert tudósból álló – „azonosító

bizottsága” kutatta fel. Az új tagok keresése során a tudományos közösséggel is konzultáltak. Az EKT

tudományos bizottsága 22 tudósból áll. A testület 2011-ben részben már megújult. A pénteki európai

bizottsági határozattal a tagok harmada cserélődik ki.

La Commissione Europea ha nominato otto nuovi membri per lo Scientific Council, l'organo di

governo dello European Research Council (Erc), nel quadro di un un rinnovamento del Consiglio che

partira' dall'inizio del 2013. Il mandato dei nuovi membri durera' fino alla fine del 2013, quando si

chiudera' il Settimo Programma Quadro di Ricerca della Ue.

I nuovi membri sono Klaus Bock, Danish National Research Foundation, Atena Donald, Universita' di

Cambridge, Barbara Ensoli, Istituto Superiore di Sanita', Nuria Sebastian Galles, Universita' di Pompeu

Fabra, Reinhard Genzel, Istituto Max Planck per la fisica extra-terrestre, Matthias Kleiner, German

Research Foundation, Eva Kondorosi, Accademia Ungherese delle Scienze e Veugelers Reinhilde,

Universita' Cattolica di Leuven.

"Il rinnovo di un terzo dei membri del consiglio scientifico - ha detto Helga Nowotny, presidente dello

Erc - giunge in un momento cruciale, mentre ci prepariamo per il passaggio a Horizon 2020. Siamo di

fronte a un continuo aumento della domanda, soprattutto da giovani ricercatori di talento. In tutta

Europa, mentre le prospettive del futuro bilancio rimangono altamente incerte. Insieme ai miei

colleghi, accolgo con favore gli otto nuovi membri che si uniranno a noi all'inizio del prossimo anno.

Sono convinta che le loro idee, l'entusiasmo e la competenza svilupperanno e rafforzeranno la

eredita' dei soci fondatori in uscita". I membri di nuova nomina sono stati. Il Consiglio Scientifico

dell'Erc e' composto da 22 eminenti scienziati e studiosi, ed e' stato parzialmente rinnovato nel 2011.

L'italiana Ensoli nel Consiglio Scientifico dell'Erc

Eletta dalla Commissione Ue con altri sette membri

C'e' anche l'italiana Barbara Ensoli, dell'Istituto Superiore di Sanita' (Iss), fra gli otto nuovi membri del

Consiglio Scientifico, l'organo di governo del Consiglio Europeo della Ricerca (Erc). La decisione,

informa la Commissione Europea, e' stata adottata nell'ambito di un programma di rinnovamento

che prendera' il via all'inizio del 2013. I nuovi membri resteranno in carica fino alla fine del prossimo

anno.

Con Barbara Ensoli sono stati nominati: Klaus Bock, della Fondazione danese per le ricerche; Athene

La psicóloga Núria Sebastián, miembro del órgano rector del Consejo Europeo de Investigación

La Comisión Europea ha nombrado este jueves a ocho nuevos miembros del órgano rector del

Consejo Europeo de Investigación (ERC), denominado Consejo Científico, entre los que se encuentra

la psicóloga catalana Núria Sebastián. El mandato de los nuevos miembros durará hasta finales de

2013, cuando concluya el Séptimo Programa Marco de Investigación de la Unión Europea, ha

informado el ERC en un comunicado. Los miembros nombrados han sido seleccionados por el Comité

de Identificación independiente del ERC, formado por seis científicos y eruditos, a través de un

proceso consultivo junto a la comunidad científica.

Next round of members joins ERC scientific council

The European Research Council has appointed eight members to its scientific council, who will

oversee the organisation’s science activities until the end of Framework 7.

The incoming members include Matthias Kleiner, the president of the Deutsche

Forschungsgemeinschaft, Klaus Bock, the chairman of the Danish National Research Foundation, and

Eva Kondorosi, the director of science at the Hungarian Academy of sciences.

Helga Nowotny, the ERC’s president, said the members were coming in at a crucial time as the ERC

prepares for Horizon 2020, the next research framework programme. “We face a continuous rise in

demand, especially from talented younger researchers throughout Europe, while the prospects of

the future budget remain highly uncertain,” she said.

The new members replace outgoing council members, who will leave in early 2013 as part of

council’s rota system.
