This chart represents the results of one of the questions I asked, which was to find out the preferred artist or band of my target audience. The most popular result was bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed and Stone Sour,

which fits the reader profile of my magazine perfectly. I was surprised that bands such as Pantera, Metallica and Iron Maiden were not as popular, however, because these are also bands I thought my target audience would prefer.

Other popular choices were Paramore, All Time Low and Good Charlotte, the Misfits, The Clash and the Sex Pistols, and Rage Against The Machine, Korn and the Beastie Boys, which also fit somewhere within the bracket for a

broader readership. However, the popularity of artists such as Cheryl Cole, Rihanna and Kanye West led me to the conclusion that I made the questions for this questionnaire a little too broad when bearing in mind the readership

and genre of magazine I was going for.

This chart represents how much money my proposed readership spends on magazines, which I used in conjunction with the question to find out how often they buy them. Out of the thirteen people who

responded to the survey, six of them spend between £1.50 and £3 on music magazines. This gives me some scope as to how much I can

price my magazine at, depending on whether I decide for it to be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or annual, and how many features and

pages it will have. This price outstrips the other results, however, so it is very likely that I will aim to have my price fall into this bracket. I

have also noticed that most of the metal magazines (such as Metal Hammer) I have seen are monthly, so there may be an open market

for a weekly Metal-specific magazine.

This chart represents how much money my proposed readership spends on music per year, and whether or not they download music.

I discovered from this that most of my readership downloads their music illegally. This could be a point to emphasise in my magazine, and I would consider including detailed album reviews, as well as

drawing attention to the benefits of actually buying albums, such as the release of special editions, and how it benefits the artists in

question.

In response to my collective results, I am considering sending out another, more specific survey that targets listeners of my proposed genre of magazine. The options I gave were a little too broad for my idea, however, it did give me a chance to understand the basis I was working on – while I have my target readership in mind, I now have a greater idea of what price my magazine should be sold at, whether or not to include information on concerts and advertisements for concert tickets, and where my readership actually gets their music news and

information. I also have some idea about the percentage of my readership that downloads their music, and could draw attention to the reasons against this. I would also endeavour to find out more about the lifestyle of my readers, so that I can find out more about what kinds of brands they usually invest in, and how much they would be willing to

invest in them. I think that finding out this information could be an advantage to the production of my magazine.
