The Landscape Committee met with Chris LaChance of Green Acres to compliment the great appearance of our neighborhood and to discuss some concerns and expectations in keeping our properties beautiful. Items presented included doing common areas after residential work is completed, setting realistic schedules and notifying us when schedule changes are required, the need for improved communication between the maintenance team and homeowners when specific instructions are given, organizing work flow by address and side of street (not skipping around), not skipping residences and to consult with the team supervisor when homeowners request additional work be done.

Fall maintenance activities coming soon!

• Look for notification about how to submit your Fall Pruning form and the due date from the HOA office.

• Homeowner irrigation systems will begin to be turned off mid-October.

• Crane Fly and Moss Control Treatments are planned for October. These are liquid treatments and need rain to drive the chemicals into the grass in order to be effective. While not hazardous to pets, once applied pets should stay off the grass until it rains.

• The controller for the irrigation system along the hedge row at the 9th hole has been replaced. It was malfunctioning and caused some unexpected dry grass patches in the parking strip.

• Do you know where the circuit breaker for the lights on the Renaissance Homes Tukwila sign on the eastward corner of Tukwila Drive is located? If so, please let Steve Hill know so we can have the sign illuminated once again.

• Backflow Testing: The City of Woodburn has reviewed our proposed

concept of having a single vendor perform annual backflow testing one time per year for our neighborhood. They are interested and PM Backflow is an approved contractor. A formal proposal will be presented to the City of Woodburn for final decision. If approved, more information will be shared as to how this will be fully implemented.

• Street Tree Damage: The tree trimming done in Spring 2018

inadequately met the overall needs as severe trimming cannot be done until the dormant growth season (typically November-January). If a tree is damaging property or there is possible infrastructure damage, a homeowner must notify the City of Woodburn. The City of Woodburn will review and then give approval or denial regarding tree removal. This includes dead/dying or diseased trees. Depending on the circumstances for tree removal, the cost may be the responsibility of the individual homeowner.

Fence Cleaning: Thank you to those who volunteered to help with the

cleaning of the common area fences. This project has been deferred to Spring 2019. Look for another request for volunteers both for labor and water in the new year.

We close this newsletter with a special thank you to Landscape

Committee member Cherrill Moran who has resigned her position effective immediately. Cherrill’ s professional commitments as Executive Editor for the Statesman Journal have not allowed her to be an active member recently. Please join the Landscape Committee in wishing Cherrill continued success and in thanking her for helping to keep our neighborhood beautiful.

Look for our updated Landscape Committee Guidelines and

a revised Landscape Change Request Form on the HOA website.
