This self-contained cooler/fan unit assures effective transmission oil cooling, even out of direct air flow. The Flex-a-lite Gatorclips(TM) will maintain a 1/2” separation between the cooler and any mounting surface, so the unit can even be mounted directly to a flat surface. Be careful, however, not to locate the unit in a tightly enclosed space, in areas exposed to thrown gravel, water, ice or road grime, or next to exhaust systems. Failure to follow these instructions may lead to serious personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle and cooler/fan assembly. THiS uNiT iS NOT deSiGNed FOR eNGiNe OiL COOLiNG APPLiCATiONS. FOR uSe AS AuXiLLiARY COOLeR

1. disconnect the transmission oil return line at the radiator. The return line should be cooler to the touch than the supply line.

2. Screw the barbed hose adapter fittings (included) into the threaded fittings on the radiator and the factory return line.(See FiGuRe 4) dO NOT diSTuRB THe OiL SuPPLY LiNe TO THe RAdiATOR.

3. Lay out a length of hose (not included) along the exact route you want to take from the barbed fitting on the radiator to either of the fittings on the remote cooler. Lay out another length of hose from the barbed fitting on the factory line to the remaining fitting on the cooler.

4. Attach the hoses. if using plain end hose, use hose clamps

5. Top of transmission oil.

FOR uSe AS RePLACeMeNT COOLeR

1. disconnect both factory transmission oil lines from the radiator, and screw the barb fittings onto the ends of the lines. Plug the radiator if it leaks oil.

2. if using plain hose, cut a length of hose to reach from each factory line to the remote cooler fittings, and attach the hose with hose clamps.

3. Top off transmission oil

FOR ALL iNSTALLATiONS: do not overtighten hose clamps. Hoses should not hang loose. Secure hoses to prevent damage from vibration or contact with other objects. Hoses should be free of sharp bends or kinks. Before driving, let vehicle run for 10 minutes while inspecting for leaks. Correct any leaks you find before putting vehicle back into service.

ReCOMMeNded WiRiNG FOR ALL iNSTALLATiONS: Flex-a-lite recommends that this unit be wired into an ON-OFF switch (Flex-a-lite Manual Switch #31148, not included) and an electrical relay. For proper fan rotation, wire black lead into positive (+) source, and the colored wire to ground (-). Circuit should be protected with a 15A slow-blow fuse.

NOTe: Modern automotive electrical systems can be very complex. if you are unsure of the proper wiring procedure, consult a qualified automotive electrical specialist.

Select Steps Below Based On Specific Application
