Global aquaculture market was valued at USD 156.27 billion in2015 expected to reach USD 209.42 billion in 2021.

Asia Pacific dominate the market of aquaculture with China,India at 1st and 2nd positions respectively.

Aquaculture industry in India estimates 10-15% Y-O-Y growthin production. Current fish production is estimated at -10-11mntones.

The total coastline in India is 8129 kms. with India's share ofglobal fish production is around 6%, according to the FAO withshrimp farming taking about 11% of the overall production.

Realizing the immense scope for development of fisheries andaquaculture, the Government of India has restructured theCentral Plan Scheme under an umbrella of Blue Revolution

Indian government approved setting up Rs 10,000 Crore(USD1.5bn) Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructuredevelopment fund to support fisheries, aquaculture and animalhusbandry in last budget.

Government funding shall boost fish production and helpachieve target of 20mn. tones by 2023 set under BlueRevolution.

It may create employment opportunities for over 1 million infishing and allied services

water quality variations which has a direct impact on yield and

productivity

Shrimp farming is the riskiest with in excess of 2/5 crops failing

leading to total loss of farming revenue

cause of fish kills in ponds

Product losses are about 50% in number of species usually due to

preventable diseases. Lower Yield is also a matter of concern.
