INTRODUCTION• Automobile thefts are increasing at an alarming rate all over

the world. So, a security system is the need of the hour.• Since GSM is reliable and user friendly, so it was a preferable

option for this project. • GSM-based vehicle anti-theft system development is designed

and developed to improve the performance of the current vehicle security system.

• Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) is a good choice of the communication to replace the conventional alarm, because it doesn’t require much cost.

• The objective of the project is to add an additional feature to

the present security system that will warn the owner of the vehicle by sending SMS when there has been an intrusion into the vehicle.

• Advance car security system is too expensive. Cost for the gadget is too high. So, a cheap alternative is the need of the hour.

• “Remote Car Locking System” is implemented using the GSM

technology. • The versatility of this technology and the ever presence of the

GSM helps the system to retrieve status of the car, keeping the car owner at peace.

BACKGROUND

MOTIVATION• As per reports, on an average 1.65 lacs cars were stolen in

India and a bulk of the cars are equipped with pretty basic security measures or none.

• So, this project would be able to bring in some respite both for the consumers and the producers. Since the system is integrated around the engine, so it can’t be accessed by thief and is quite reliable on both security and alert front with the GSM technology.

• The system will be able to bring down the numbers of car thefts and which is the real thrust on working on this project.

• Microcontroller AT89S52• GSM SIM900A• Valve

HARDWARE USED

Basic Theoretical Notions

Microcontroller AT89S52The AT89S51 is a low-power, high-performance CMOS 8-bit microcontroller with 4K bytes of in-system programmable Flash memory.Features• 4K Bytes of In-System Programmable (ISP) Flash Memory• 4.0V to 5.5V Operating Range• 128 x 8-bit Internal RAM• 32 Programmable I/O Lines• Two 16-bit Timer/Counters

Figure- Pin Diagram of Microcontroller

GSM SIM900AGSM SIM900 is a Quad-band GSM engine, which works on frequencies 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz It is very compact in size and easy to use as plug in GSM Modem. The Modem is designed with RS232 Level converter circuitry, which allows you to directly interface PC Serial port.Features• High Quality Product•Quad-Band GSM/GPRS 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900 MHz• Built in RS232 Level Converter (MAX3232)•Configurable baud rate•SMA connector with GSM L Type Antenna.•Built in SIM Card holder.

Valve

• A valve is a device that regulates, directs or control the flow of liquid by opening, closing or partially obstructing various passage ways.

• In open valve, the liquid flows from higher pressure to lower pressure.

• Here we use valve.

SYSTEM DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

• The system consist of microcontroller AT89S52, GSM SIM900 and a valve.

• The System basically checks for the status of the ignition lock.• Whenever the state of ignition lock changes then the status

signal will be send to microcontroller.• The GSM after receiving the signal sends an alert signal to the

number of the owner.• When the owner calls then the microcontroller sends the signal

to lock the valve.

• Kiel software is been used as it gives the software development tools for 8051.

PROBLEM FORMULATION

• In present security system of the cars, if any intruder indulges with the locked car, then the system responds with an alarm basically a high pitch sound to alert people around.

• If no one is around then the system will be unable to get the owner’s attention.

• This is where a GSM is required. GSM can help to get the attention of the owner. A GSM can send SMS to the owner, which will definitely can get the owner’s attention.

ADVANTAGES

• Better security features.• Low cost.• Can’t be accessed from outside

• Car Location Cannot be tracked

.

DISADVANTAGES

CONCLUSION & FUTURE DIRECTION

• This is a unique method of designing and assembling a low-cost, compact theft control system for an automobile. • In future, there is no doubt, that all of the vehicles will be embedded with this unique kit. The work can be further extended to do the following: • For Lane Tracking purpose a front camera can be attached to

the vehicle. Long range IR sensors can also be used to avoid vehicle collision.

• A finger print scanner can be incorporated on the steering

wheel of the vehicle to allow only authorized user to access the vehicle.• A system for detecting behavior of driver can also be made. A camera can be placed besides rear view mirror to check the behavior of the driver.
